About me:

RED RIVER GORGE CLIMBERS COALITION

VALUES

We value rock climbing as a form of recreation that is good for both individuals and local communities. We also value the world class rock climbing opportunities found in and around Red River Gorge, Kentucky as a national treasure that are deserving of our best efforts to preserve for all Americans and for all climbers to enjoy, experience, and appreciate.

VISION

Our vision is to build an organization that provides the public service of securing and preserving the highest quality climbing opportunities and inspires climbers to become “Citizen Trustees of Climbing”—empowering ourselves through “ownership” (taking responsibility) and direct participation.

MISSION

Our mission is to ensure open, public access to ample, quality outdoor rock climbing opportunities to meet the needs of current and future climbers and to encourage the conservation of the natural environment, on publicly managed and privately owned land by protecting, promoting, and ensuring responsible climbing.

STRATEGY

Our strategy is to first responsibly secure the opportunity to climb, whether on public or private land, and then make climbing sustainable for climbers and the environment, and finally to make all climbing exemplary.

PLEASE VISIT WWW.RRGCC.ORG for more information!

Hey, the weather is looking awesome for this weekend! Partly cloudy all three days with highs of 79 Fri. and 81 on Sat. & Sun. If you haven't already seen it, there is a full event schedule that you can print off the RRGCC site - http://www. rrgcc. org

It is going to be an non-stop, action packed, weekend. A couple details that you might want to check out are the silent auction for a photo shoot w/ professional photographer John Evans and the Red Bull Dyno Comp on Saturday night. I remember when we had the dyno comp at Torrent a couple of years ago and that was a blast.

Just a reminder that online registration for Rocktoberfest will be closed tomorrow Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at Midnight. One thing to keep in mind is that we are not able to accept credit card payments at the event door. We will only be able to accept cash or checks at the door.

If you haven't looked at the thermometer on the RRGCC website lately we are already over 1/3 of the way towards having our 2009 PMRP payment in hand! Rocktoberfest should give us quite a boost towards our goal. Looking forward to seeing everyone next weekend.

The only thing that makes me sad about Turkey Day is knowing that I have to wait until March until I can again relish the taste of Miguel's Pizza. Sammy, I did go climbing the Monday after Rocktoberfest @ Solar Collector, just some slab climbing for us mere mortals. After Dave Graham passed by on the trail I figured the superstars were up at Darkside so I went over there to check it out before leaving to go home. Got to watch Graham & Emily Harrington climb side by side on two of the 13's to the right. What a way to end an incredible weekend!
