Influences
Ian Anderson (Vocals), Tom Petty(Style), Bob Stanley(Songwriting, Vocals), Diana Ross (Inspiration), Mark Marufo(Lead Guitar), Tim Maher(Guitar), Randy Keener(Guitar), Roger Sealy(Style), IlyAIMY(Guitar), and a slew of others known & unknown too numerous to mention.
Started off jamming with Caribbean musicians, then with Christian musicians doing praise music. Finally started performing among folk artists and poets...all very influential to me.
Sounds Like
That is a mystery many of us have pondered, my more flattering comparisons being to John Cougar Mellancamp, Bob Segar and Steve Miller.
(Steve Miller?)
Of course, this page has four of my MP3s and several videos of my music which I encourage you to listen to, so see what you think.
I can also be found at RScottStewart on You Tube, where you will find several "live" videos of my Christian and secular music.
Wheeling, West Virginia singer/songwriter RScott Stewart.
RScott Stewart is influenced more by vibrant musicians in his area and circle than by any famous artists, but gives due credit to great artists of many genres for their influence on his work.
"I'm more likely to spend a few hours trying to recapture the style I heard from a musician I jammed with and watched than a nice sound I heard on a CD."
He also has a strong literary background, which influences his lyrical content. "The words should be effective and well-formed by themselves, without the music. After twenty-plus years on guitar, I still consider myself a lyricist rather than a musician."

Check out MyFriend link "Wheeling Rock Depot," and stop by to see an index site of a lot of your favorite bands' official MySpace sites.
The R. Scott Stewart page is dedicated to my music, and the music of those I know and jam with. But the Wheeling Rock Depot is dedicated to music that rocks, whatever its genre. Think of it as your center for MySpace jams.
Many of the links are to nationally known monster acts...all genres, a lot of rock, many of the best guitar rockers. Many of the rest are to great bands with Ohio Valley roots...of these, several, like the Clarks and BE Taylor are nationally known as well.
Also, there are great acts that not many have heard of yet, but make absolutely fantastic music...like Taylor of GTO from Florida that many of us Ohio Valley musicians have found on our MyFriends, or Ilyami from Baltimore.
There are many great MySpace sites of the great gear manufacturers...Fender and BC Rich to name two of many, as well as some outstanding studios and magazines. Go to MyFriend catagory "Gear."
Oh, and the MySpace playlist at Wheeling Rock Depot features a rotating selection of Ohio Valley-connected bands and artists.
