LA area local "underground, heh": the studiofix, a faulty chromosome, the danger bees, ninja academy, masterslave, darker my love, the moondrops, family tree analog, clark eight, sounds of asteroth, ok those last two were self promo, henry clay people, john thill, laco$te, i.e. (all the bands I've ever played bills with, unless they don't feel it.)
Classic Jamestown NY local: a chilling love story, mysterious moonshow, my dragonfly, space age urinal cake, pants, scars... some of these songs are still lodged in my soul. And as hard to believe as this may be, old 10,000 maniacs makes me emote like a 12 year old girl. | | Movies | Considering I live in a place where there is so much movie stuff, I see about 1 movie every two months and generally feel ripped off. I'd much rather be having a draft beer and rocking my face off to some 17 year olds' musical fantasies. | | Television | fuzzy antenna reception | | Books | authors of fiction: Gaddis, Pynchon, HC, umm D.F. Wallace, for some reason I like long stuff.... Haruki Murakami, (the books, the band...)... umm... lessee, I don't know, books are awesome. Kim Stanley Robinson kills it in the SciFi dept, Stanislav Lem, PKD. | | Heroes | are always a let down in person, except my parents who basically gave me myself. About me:
I'm working on a PhD in Materials Science & Engineering, a Master's Degree in Computer Science (high performance computing) both at USC, a 2-3 piece rock band, a 7 piece post? glam rock band, a 2 piece quieter kind of band, and some other things.
Yeah that's pretty much the story about me at the moment. That and just trying to stay sane amidst the flood of information I subject myself to daily.
I've held this space on the web since 2000: www.nutation.net but it's not that interesting. I do still think nutation is a cool word, especially definition 4.

Who I'd like to meet:
People who can open up a map and see between 1 and 2. People who can see past the TV veneer of LA to its crusty heart. People who have some idea what they do or want to do in general.
