The Coronas join the tour fresh from the success of their hit single “San Diego Song” which spent 16 weeks in the Irish top 40. They have just released their new single “Grace, Don’t Wait!” which is taken from their debut album “Heroes and Ghosts” and have played in The Village and The Button Factory. They’ve appeared on The Late Late Show, The Podge and Rodge Show, Other Voices and were nominated for this year’s Meteor Awards.
Speaking at the launch The Coronas said:
‘We’re delighted to be involved with the RTÉ 2fm 2moro 2our. We’re honoured to be headlining the tour considering the amazing wealth of talent on the bill’
Boss Volenti are a no nonsense rock 'n' roll band based in Dublin. Formed in the summer of 2005, the quartet comprises singer/bass guitarist Rob Daly, guitarists Laura Mackey and Dan O'Connor, and drummer Graham Hopkins. With plenty of new tunes completed and a new single on the way, Boss Volenti will be recording their second album in 2008.
Graham Hopkins had this to say at the launch:
‘Boss Volenti are very excited about playing on the RTÉ 2fm 2moro 2our. We shall have a laugh and a half travelling around the country! It's great that the line up of bands is so musically diverse and it's sure to be a good night out for live music enthusiasts’.
Last, but not least, Wicklow band Juno Falls join this travelling rock circus. Following the release of the band’s first album ‘Starlight Drive’, Juno Falls were quickly signed to publishing and record deals, and have spent much of the past eighteen months recording their new album ‘Weightless’ in London, Nashville, Dingle, and Wicklow.
Myles O'Reilly aka Juno Falls says:
‘’It's a great opportunity to play to an audience that, without RTÉ 2fm and this tour, I wouldn't otherwise be able to reach. It’s kind of a homecoming for us, and we can't wait to get out there!”
Up to 5,000 fans will get to see these three bands perform for free on the RTÉ 2fm 2moro 2our which will visit ten different venues and nine different locations; Portlaoise, Waterford, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Sligo, Dundalk, Mullingar and Dublin, across Ireland.
ABOUT THE RTÉ 2FM 2MORO 2OUR
In a continued effort to discover and promote new Irish talent, RTÉ 2fm established the RTÉ 2fm 2moro 2our in November 2006. The first RTÉ 2fm 2moro 2our was such a rocking big success that the station decided to make it a bi-annual event. November 2006 saw 2fm travel nationwide with The Immediate, Fairuza and Echogram and lots of friends along the way. May 2007 Messiah J and the Expert, Giveamanakick and The Flaws joined the travelling circus...and in November 2007 we were back out on the road with David Geraghty, Concerto for Constantine and Ham Sandwich.
The RTÉ 2fm 2moro 2our gives three up and coming Irish bands the chance to be seen by thousands of fans all over Ireland. RTÉ 2fm not only invests finances and human resources in press and promotion for the tour but also gives all of the bands valuable airtime and the chance to be seen by thousands of Irish fans. This is in addition to the hundreds of Irish bands who have recorded RTÉ 2fm Sessions and the hundreds of hours of live music recorded every year at the likes of Electric Picnic and Oxegen, not to mention the Larks in the Park, and the legendary Cork Rock showcases of the 80s and 90s.
