Part of the live acid-jazz and community often tapped by nu-soul artists and hip hop beatmakers, Robbie McDonald is a full time musician and instructor from the DC area. From writing a song with Lewis Taylor to performing 'Soul Man' behind John Witherspoon, Robbie's short career has already proven noteworthy.
Touring with various groups while still in his teens, Robbie has since made a name for himself as a producer and sideman to a bevy of influential artists from both sides of the Atlantic. Whether playing guitar with Grammy noms Chrisette Michele (US), or Raheem DeVaughn (US); Omar (UK), Goapele (US), Julie Dexter (UK), or bass guitar with Eastern Standard Time (US), Robbie brings a signature style and a wealth of experience to any musical outfit.
Firmly ensconced as one of the main brains behind the sound of Debórah Bond (US), Robbie has written, co-produced and played various instruments on all her releases.
Heard on TV spots for Discovery HD and CSTV, Robbie also produces tracks as himself and for other artists under his initials, rdm.
The track 'afterthewoman' on this profile is used as the theme for XM Radio'sE-Class, hosted by Debórah Bond.
