I've been a dj now for well over 12 years, and I've also owned a record store for the last 5 years. I'm really not sure how i stumbled into this business nor can i exactly say why i chose to become a dj. Music was always around me growing up, my parent's listened to The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Doors, and various other bands. I suppose having that as a backdrop to the MTV days, plus friday night videos, might have been some influence. I really didn't walk into my dj career until i met my wife, who was then my girlfriend. She took me to my first club and it was there i saw Dj Felony djing and mixing music. Ever since that time , i immersed myself in music, picking up vinyl records from all my favorite bands, and producers. My collection numbers in the 20,000's, and as a dj i found myself trying to perfect the art of mixing songs together. I worked for a record store, and from there learned how to dj from some of the best in town. After djing at bars & various clubs, i decided to get into the music business, as a hobby/career. I opened up R-Type Records in 2004, and slowly built it with the help of friends to the mega store now called Remix Dallas.
On a personal note, I'm very proud to have been married for nearly 10 years to the best friend I've ever had. She's been there for me through this whole business venture/dj career, good times & bad times. Those who know what this game can do to you surely understand why i consider it an achievement, and why i feel lucky to have met her. My kids make up the rest of my life, and have given me many happy moments.
Other than music, playing video game's with my kids & watching my Dallas Cowboys & Boston Red Sox take up much of my free time.
