From Israel to China it is true to say that Rua has had considerable success abroad rather than in their native Ireland. In 2003 they headlined at the prestigious World Music Festival in Tel-Aviv, Israel, performing with full orchestra at the Israeli Opera House. Later that year they performed in Spain and the RDS in Dublin while 2004 saw a US debut with several critically acclaimed performances in New York. 2006 brought a solo performance at the Festival InterCeltique de Lorient iin France and a performance with Carlos Nunez at the Parc des Expositions de Lann Sevelin before an audience of 5,000 people. Further success followed that year when Gloria's compositional skill was recognised and she became the World Fleadh Music Writing Champion of 2006 with an original instrumental piece entitled ‘Red Alert’, written for solo violin, whistle and orchestra.
Their first album was released in 2001 and their second album ‘DREAM-TELLER’ followed in 2003. ‘DREAM-TELLER’ features Irish actor Gabriel Byrne who provided a moving narration of the W.B. Yeat’s poem ‘I am of Ireland’ over an original instrumental composition by Gloria.
'WHISPER', the third album, features new compositions along with Gloria's stunning versions of favourites such as ‘Vincent’, ‘Nights in White Satin’, 'Hallelujah' and ‘Bridge over Troubled Water’. The album was released in Taiwan by Aurora Music and will soon be released in Singapore, New Zealand, and Australia following a signing with Australian giant 'Rajon'. RUA signed a major deal with EMI Music Publishing Korea for territories in Asia and had great success in Asia with album releases in China, Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia & Singapore. Their music featured in high profile Asian Films and TV Ads. Following a stunning performance at the famous Great TianHan Theatre in China in 2006, RUA return to China in Sept 2007 to perform in Shanghai and Beijing.
Gloria's inimitable skill in combining conventional symphony orchestra with the traditional instruments of Ireland coupled with her own harmonic style and compositional skill has resulted in a sound that is inimitable and irresitably alluring, while always developing and progressing.
May lovely, happy times decorate this time of the season. May warm, special memories brighten your New Year, may the wonder of Christmas be with you (forever). Saby O'

In this knight's latest quest, an enchanted land was discovered beyond the mist
In the darkness of night a beautiful lady appeared to me in the distance
As I galloped toward her, the first rays of dawn broke through the trees and I lost sight of her
I searched for hours but all I could see was a hawk circling above in the morning breeze
May you have an enchanting weekend

Ladyhawke's
~LAND BEYOND THE MYST~
There is a land beyond the myst... Where time doth play a gentle game, A place where magic enters in... And cradles soft a mystic name 'Tis LadyHawke who calls to thee... Across the waters dark and deep, Beyond the place where dragons sleep, Where waterfowl and faeries play Along the shore at break of day 'Tis LadyHawke who calls to thee... Come forth and find thy destiny But shouldst thou turn thine eye away And close thine ear to ancient song, The lady who awaits thee here And to thine own heart doth belong, Shall sleep another thousand years 'Til she be waked by lover's tears
I had a mother who read to me Sagas of pirates who scoured the sea, Cutlasses clenched in their yellow teeth, "Blackbirds" stowed in the hold beneath I had a Mother who read me lays Of ancient and gallant and golden days; Stories of Marmion and Ivanhoe, Which every boy has a right to know I had a Mother who read me tales Of Gelert the hound of the hills of Wales, True to his trust till his tragic death, Faithfulness blent with his final breath. I had a Mother who read me the things That wholesome life to the boy heart brings — Stories that stir with an upward touch, Oh, that each mother of boys were such! You may have tangible wealth untold; Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold Richer than I you can never be — I had a Mother who read to me - Strickland Gillilan
