Born in São Paulo, Brazil, and based in New York City, Rubens de La Corte is a guitarist, composer and arranger.
Rubens graduated from the Berklee College of Music (Magna Cum Laude) with a Bachelors Degree in Jazz Composition and Guitar Performance. Rubens also has a Master of Arts Degree in Jazz Performance from Queens College (CUNY).
Rubens is the Musical Director and Guitar Player for multi Grammy Nominee and 2008 Winner, Angelique Kidjo. Rubens recorded the guitar tracks for Angelique's 2002 Grammy Nominated CD, "Black Ivory Soul". In the eight-year since they have teamed up, they have toured the world several times including concerts in Japan, Australia, Europe, the Caribbean, Brazil, Africa, USA and Canada.
Rubens is also the guitarist for Brazilian-Jazz Pianist and Grammy Nominee Eliane Elias. They toured Europe, Japan, Canada and the USA in support of her CDs "Dreamer" and "Around the City".
