The River, released in 2009, is his third disc.
This recording features an all-star Albertan lineup of Jazz musicians and features all original compositions in an acoustic, jazz quintet format. Besides his solo work, Rubim is known as bassist and founding member of the Latin-Jazz group Bomba. With Bomba, he has recorded four CDs and has toured extensively including Canada, the US, Europe, Asia and South America.
As a band leader, Rubim is the founder of the improv/groove collective reclaim. With the reclaim collective, Rubim has led a rotating group of musicians into a more electronic, improvisational and experimental musical realm. The collective has recorded two live CDs.
Currently, Rubim has been dedicating a lot of time as musical director for the prestigious dance company, Decidedly Jazz Danceworks of Calgary and is also the director of the Mount Royal College Large Jazz Ensemble in Calgary.
