"Wilbur burst into tears. "I don't want to die," he moaned. "I want to stay alive, right here in my comfortable manure pile with all my friends. I want to breathe the beautiful air and lie in the beautiful sun."

Thanks for visiting Myspace! I am a mother of two boys, one almost 18, and one almost 20. I live with my life partner, we have been together for 16 years. He is my heart and soul. We both love animals, and are both vegetarian, as is my oldest son, ( still working on the other one!)
We have a houseful of pets: 3 indoor house pigs, one outdoor Kune Kune pig, one senior Lhasa Apso, one cat, and two Oscars. I hope one day in the near future to be able to start a sanctuary to house unwanted pigs. My dream as far back as I can remember is to live on a farm. I can remember when I was just a little girl, planting my crops of crayons in the back yard, in neat little rows. Maybe I was hoping for beautiful, multi-hued crayon trees? Once I thought I could hatch an egg from the refridgerator. My mother brought home brown eggs for the very first time, and I thought surely these are special eggs, and there must be baby chicks inside. I stole one, late one night, wrapped it in towels, hid it in my little toy doctors bag, and placed it on my radiator to keep them warm. After a few days, my mother followed her nose to the un-Godly stench in my room, and confiscated my baby chick-to-be. I was devastated! My first excursion into being a chicken farmer...foiled.
I am leaning towards veganism, and find it hard to comprehend those who say they love animals, but can't see the irony of going home to a pork chop dinner. Why are dogs and horses and cats any different from pigs, cows and chickens? All it comes down to, I believe is conditioning. We have been conditioned to believe that we must eat meat. We are made to believe that food animals don't deserve our compassion. We are made to believe that we can't be healthy on a vegetable based diet. We are made to believe our bodies are made for eating meat. Not so. We have small teeth, not made for chewing and ripping meat like the large carnivores. Our intestines are very long, unlike a true carnivores. Meat stays in our bodies for a long time, rotting and making us sick.
Do people believe that pigs and cows and chickens WANT to be eaten? Not so. They want to live as much as any of us. They want to live in social groups, they want to care for their young, they want to play, feel the earth beneath their feet, the sun on their backs, just like any of us. They feel pain, and fear, and joy just like any of us. I have met several farm hogs, and they are not dirty, smelly, stupid animals. They are curious, playful, affectionate, clean, ( YES Clean! They can be taught to use a litterbox!) and truly savor life. Food is a pleasure to revel in, mud is a joyful, zen experience. A belly rub will send them into a peaceful, relaxed, near-coma. The sun is a gift, from the Great Boar himself. Just watching a pig soaking up life, enjoying every single moment, is a peaceful, soul soothing experience. I want to sit on my back porch, and look out over my fields, dotted with pigs, doing what they do best, enjoying life. I want to walk through a forest, all my porcine friends following behind, I want to hear all their astonished grunts and happy squeals when they find some new tidbit to treasure. I want to see them run, and buck and spin, and live, in peace, never in fear. I want to plant a field of wildflowers, and every flower that grows will be in memory of one of their brothers or sisters, that died in fear and confusion. We will walk among the flowers, and say a little prayer for the others, the billions and billions of others. This will make my heart happy, but always in the back of my mind, I will think of the others, the ones trapped in tiny gestation crates, the ones shipped on crowded trucks filled with the stench of terror, stepping on each other trying to get free, screaming in blind fear when that final herding is upon them. Please, the next time you see one of the "murder trucks" on the highway, with all the pink snouts poking desperately through the holes, seeing the light of day for the first and last time, think of their panic, their thirst, their pain, think of them, think about whether that few seconds on the taste buds is worth all this. Say a little prayer for them.

As you know, little Ginger
Piggy is understudying the role of CLARA in "The Nutcracker" this year:
she assumes that role on Sunday matinées. For the rest of the
performances, she is a Sugar Plum Fairy (above). It is hard enough for
a 16 month old piglet to learn one role, let alone two, so we are very
proud of our little Twinkle-Toes.
Every year for
Christmas, my best buddy Miss Yvonne and I donate to causes that
protect some of God's creatures that need protecting, feed some that
need feeding, heal some that need healing, or shelter some from the
winter cold. This is how we keep the "Christ" in Christmas. This
year, we donated to the
Humane Society of the United States. Maybe you and one of
your good friends can agree to do the same thing for an organization or
cause that you both believe in.
My Saturday night TV-watching with the little piglets was filled
again with squeals and cries of horror and shock when the BOOST MOBILE
commercial we successfully got removed from TV last March showed up
again. I guess they thought we only meant we wanted to wait six
months to see it again when we all told them to take it off television.
The disregard for scaring and upsetting little ones, by placing it on
channels and viewing hours likely to be watched by children, makes it
all the more offensive. I object to cannibalism, and it surely has no
place in selling cellphone service. You can have a look at the blog
from March if you don't remember this piece of shit: I
OBJECT TO CANNIBALISM
or you can just send another angry e-mail to the parent company of
Boost Mobile, Sprint, at ABUSE@SPRINT.NET. Thanks to all of you who
did so in March...it worked for almost 7 months. Let's try it
again.
