About me:
RuckusRoots is part of the "art as advocacy" movement, a grassroots effort to engage young people in democracy and the environment. Protecting our democracy, which will only continue to function with the sustained vigilance and involvement of its citizens, and protecting the health of the environment, which is dangerously close to disintegrating beyond repair—are the most pressing concerns of our generation. As humans, we’re nothing without our planet. But as Americans, we can do nothing to protect our planet without a fully functioning, healthy democratic system.
Starting this summer and through the November elections, RuckusRoots will be traveling the country, setting up a RuckusRoom discussion center at major youth events (concerts, festivals, colleges, etc.) promoting environmental and social awareness and action, registering young people to vote and encouraging them to vote environmentally friendly!
Our home base and centerpiece "draw" will be an interactive biodiesel art bus (the "RuckusRide") that we're building with installation artist Matt Moldover, the creator of the octamasher.

Who I'd like to meet:
You. Why?
Because you have a sneaking suspicion that things aren't quite right in this country, or this world, for that matter, and you want to do something about it. At the very least you want to learn about doing something about it, meet others with the same goals and make your voice heard by engaging in (and therefore empowering and preserving) our democratic system. You also give a crap about the environment and are smart enough to realize that doesn't necessarily mean you're a hippy or a "tree-hugger," you're just a self-aware human who recognizes things need to change and with your involvement, they CAN.
