Bio ::
Rue Morgue is an American heavy metal band formed in 2007 in Phoenix, Arizona. The band comprises vocalist Randy Altergott, guitarist Bruce Bray, bassist Eric Stoutenburgh, and drummer Johnny Quinones.
History ::
Rue Morgue was formed in 2007 by Bruce Bray, Duane Gilbert, and Eric Stoutenburgh. The three musicians had played the Arizona circuit for years and befriended one another. They had talked about putting a band together for a couple of years but could never quite find the time. Finally, the three of them made a commitment to put together a group of musicians that could handle the type of metal they all enjoyed playing. This band would be different than others, focusing on music with tempo and energy. Eric had known a singer in another local band named Randy Altergott. After talking to Randy, Eric felt confident he would be interested in this venture. In the meantime, Duane Gilbert (the drummer) had to leave the band for personal reasons. He recommended a local drummer Johnny Q who could perform such high octane music. From the first practice on, the guys knew they belonged together. A lethal combination of Rocket Fuel and Rat Poison.
The band juggled several names before settling for Rue Morgue. The name comes from an Edgar Allen Poe murder mystery. The name seemed an appropriate backdrop for their brand of heavy metal music. Brandishing a motto of ALL THINGS METAL, no one would confuse them with a pop / rock / dance band.
Our next two shows will be with Moonspell / Divine Heresy on November 2nd at The Clubhouse in Tempe, and Powerman 5000 at UBs in Mesa on November 18th! Tickets are available through us! Hit us up and come hang out!
The next show is for you! We want to thank all the great fans that have come out and supported us. There is no better place in the world for music than Phoenix! As a way to say thanks, we are throwing our own show on Sept. 19th. at Club Red. We have invited 11 other bands to share the stage with us and we are very proud of the line up. Additionally we will have Summer Scortcher ticket giveaways as well as a raffle for 2 vaporizers (you know what they're for) throughout the night. The first 50 people that reply to this get their tickets to Kill Fest 2009 for $5.00.
