With the exception of collabs, like "Never Again" and "Forgotten" which feature incredible contributive work from our friends and cohorts, Tasso (Radiochemist), and The Jahlifta (from Crucial Elements), RuffBong Dread (Jahn) plays all the instruments you hear and manages all recording/production of this work, influenced and accompanied by his main squeeze, Katrock I.... not to leave out our influences which contribute as well, from many on our friends list here.
We also dabble in production of others along the way, any help we can be, we always try and offer an extended hand. :-)

Reggae in our own sort of stylee. I create a riddim- an instrumental, on which lyrics are dropped, which are written for the groove, which must first be capable of standing on it's own. We like for them to be conscious: for me that means from the heart and written to benefit the mind and body. I drop the riddim as well... whether or not lyrics are ready to get down on the tune.
And this helps Kat and I to become more familiar with the presence of the melodies and such, and listeners, too. I try to reach out with ambience, which is different with reggae for the most part, and am not afraid to go where it does not tend to go, and try out different beats that are not traditionally, let's say, a one-drop or pop-reggae style. Sometimes it is more crossover.
Kat and I both have alot of band and acoustic experience. I have done alot of production for friends and sound engineer work. Some songs here we created with the help of some close friends... Tasso from Hollywood, and the Jahlifta. Now we do our own thing.... so newer stuff you can hear on our website, on the BongSongs page, are mostly all driven by me, from beat and strings thru mastering.

I don't know how to best describe what I do, nor what genre it best falls under, but I suppose reggae is where it would best fit in, though it does tend to be rather ambient and is influenced by a love for RandB as well. I try and write about subjects of an internal nature, as I believe we all feel some of these things as well, I think maybe mi works can sorta relay to others that they are not alone in these ways of feeling and thinking. I do (try to) play the instruments and record/produce it myself in our home, and here is where I can share what I do in our spare time. My lady, Kat, backs me up with vocals and some suggestions as to what she thinks feels right when laying some tracks down, and when it comes to mastering, so it can be called a joint effort. :-) Thanks for taking a moment to give a couple of tracks a listen, as open ears are what makes this pursuit of dealing with these issues we deal with in these songs, all worth it.
Our music here is an attempt at innovation, and slight elaboration, contribution. :-)
