Rufus started wowing the crowds at six, then attracting admirers at 14 with his emotional autobiographical songs. His fan base grew steadily while he performed as frontman for The Motor Booty Affair, while on Canadian Idol (top 100) and performing around Canada at major events such as Canada Day celebrations, Frosh week events, corporate functions and music festivals.

Rufus’ particular style mixes today’s music with classic Motown R&B, making him also a favourite on local radio. The year after his debut EP, 'The Reason', hit the airwaves, its first released track, ‘Sex on the Beach’, won him the 2007 Rhythm of the Future talent competition, hosted by Kitchener’s 1 radio station, 91.5 The Beat. And, landed him a recording session with producer Markus Kane, where they co-write what became his next release, the single, ‘Street Thing’ featuring Thrust.

Along the way, some of Canada’s best singers, songwriters and producers have helped him craft his technique, including Juno winner Miranda Walsh and Gary McAuley.

Spring of 2009 he is releasing the remix of ‘The Reason’, the title song of his debut EP. Thanks to producer Chris Rouse, we'll hear a whole new spin and maturity on this song that is an ode to his mother’s perseverance.

Rufus’s lifetime dream starts with combining education with a professional and conscientious musical career. As a graduated Child and Youth Worker his lyrics are aimed directly at the emotionally troubled young people he works with. Songs from his upcoming album, ‘Growing Pains’ will offer youth encouragement about overcoming battles, getting their life back together and having that need to yearn to be more than meets the eye.

Rufus is known to be The Bridge between young and old, The Catalyst for change and The Kid Next Door who people can lay themselves open to. With this new album on the way Rufus says “I’m coming and bringing soul with me, so, set a table for two more because its going to be a long night.”
