    RUI AZUL: Born in Porto, Portugal. Musical studies at Academia Amadores Música (Lisbon), Music School of Campo Alegre (Porto) and Jazz saxophone by the methods of Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA). Followed jazz Workshops, lectured by Alan Skydmore, Lol Coxill, John Stevens, Alan Silva, Frank Wright and George Adams. Graduated on Graphic Design at Fine Arts High School of Porto. Studies also include Mechanical Engineering and Architecture. Saxophone / flute player and composer, 2 albums released: "PRESSÕES DIGITAIS" (Digital Pressures - 91); "À BOLINA" (Bowline - 05), both from original compositions. Performed in several jazz, blues and new music festivals, tv shows, art bienals and similar events, with his quintet, "RUI AZUL INDEX", in Portugal, Spain, France and Belgium. Lived in Holland (79 - 83), there he played at Bim-Huis, Paradiso, Melkweg, B14 Jazzclub, Dizzy's, Sunship Jazzbunker, de Kroeg's; Composed musical scores for Theatre, soundtracks for films & cartoons, jingles for radio & tv. Teatches History of Jazz and Improvisation Aesthetics in music schools. Worked over 18 years as a Creative Designer and Art Director on Advertising Agencies. Also Illustrator, cartoonist and comics author, his works are published on comic books, newspapers, and on school, technical or fiction books. His graphic works, drawings and paintings were present at art exibitions. Presented a radio show, "jazzology". Actually performs multimedia concerts under the title "A HISTORIA do JAZZ & BLUES" with his band, RUI AZUL INDEX; Also performs with a trio formation: AZUL, FERRO & CENOURA, Ilimitada. He's also a member of MINNEMANN BLUES BAND , and sometimes joins the band TRABALHADORES DO COMÉRCIO on live shows and in their new cd, "Iblussom". Pedro Taveira-dr / Alberto Jorge-b / Paulo Pinto-g / Silvério-kb / Rui Azul-ts on TV show, back in 1991.
