Ruiz are three guys in their mid-twenties who play their own version of energetic and dance rock and roll. Although they began back in 2005 as a two-member local curiosity, their current lineup dates from mid-2006. In that year, they self-released EP Taste! and made a „partisan“ video for the song „Porn Stars from Mars“, which has become a mini legend. Shot in just a few hours, the video stayed on the first place of the charts of a Croatian Television youth program. The band has played some sixty concerts in Croatia and Slovenia, including major festivals such as VipINmusic Festival, Art&Music, Priredba and Barufe. In Slovenia, after winning the regional band contest YoungGunZ Tour 2008, they played at the country’s most prominent festivals: LENT, TRNfest and ŠKISova tržnica. Having established excellent contact with the audience in Slovenia they often get to play there. In early 2009 a debut album, Erupt, is to be released by Sonic Doom Records, a sort of “the best of” songs created and played over the past three years. The album was recorded on analog tapes and mastered by Bob Katz, a three-time Grammy winner.
Combing the aesthetics of Kyuss and Nirvana, dance elements of Gang of Four and Rapture, and the unrestrained playing by At the Drive-In, Ruiz have achieved a distinctive author’s expression which is difficult to genre categorize. Anyone who has ever heard Ruiz knows that the music is furiously played direct pop songs that resound contagiously in one’s ears and those who have heard them live have witnessed the explosiveness of their performance. For Ruiz the year 2009 will be marked by the promotion of their first album but also by making and probably finishing a new album.***************************************************************************
Ruiz su tri momka u srednjim dvadesetima koji sviraju svoju varijantu energicnog i plesnog rokenrola. Premda su još 2005. zapoceli kao dvoclana lokalna zanimljivost, u današnjoj postavi djeluju od sredine 2006. godine. Iste godine samoizdaju EP Taste! te snimaju "partizanski" spot za pjesmu „Porn stars from Mars" koji je postao mini legenda. Naime, snimljen u svega nekoliko sati cak se pola godine zadržao na prvom mjestu glazbene top-liste u HRT-ovoj emisiji za mlade. Bend je do sada odsvirao šezdesetak koncerata u Hrvatskoj i Sloveniji, medu kojima i neke od vecih festivala poput VipINmusic Festivala, Art&Music-a te istaknutih kvarnerskih festivala Priredbe i Opatijskih Barufa. U Sloveniji su, nakon pobjede na regionalnom natjecanju bendova YounGunZ Tour 2008., svirali na najznacajnijim tamošnjim festivalima: LENT festival, TRNfest i ŠKISova tržnica. Ostvarivši izuzetan kontakt sa slovenskom publikom cesto imaju priliku svirati u Deželi. Pocetkom 2009. u izdanju Sonic Doom Records-a izlazi im debut album Erupt! koji je svojevrsni best of pjesama nastalih i prosviranih unazad 3 godine. Album je sniman analognim tehnikama na trake, a masterirao ga je cuveni Bob Katz, trostruki dobitnik nagrade Grammy. Kombinirajuci estetiku Kyussa i Nirvane, plesne elemente Gang of Four i Rapture te neobuzdano sviranje At the Drive-In-a, Ruiz je postigao osobit autorski izricaj kojeg je vrlo teško žanrovski odrediti. Svi koji su ikada culi Ruiz znaju da je rijec o vratolomno žestokim i neposrednim pop pjesmama koje zarazno odzvanjaju u ušima, a oni koji su ih vidjeli uživo upoznali su eksplozivnost njihova nastupa. Za Ruiz 2009. godina bit ce u znaku promocije prvijenca, ali i snimanja i vjerojatnog dovršetka novog albuma.
