ruKus radio


The idea of ruKus radio began roughly four years ago in the back alleys of the mind of one Moestradamus, bassist in Warren, OH based indiepowerockpop band, The Kellys. The idea was to provide an outlet for independent artists worldwide, and to have a blast pretending it's real radio. After many weeks, months and years of talking about these ideas, and joking around about live broadcasts from the trashed hotel room or stinky bus on his band's World Tour, the ideas turned into action. Seven podcasts were cranked out between late summer and winter of 2007, a time when the Youngstown music scene was not only loaded with musical activity, but alive with the excitement of a prospering and growing scene.

At 12:01am, January 1st 2008, ruKus radio blasted forth with the birth of it's 24/7 stream of independent music. From recording, broadcasting and visually documenting countless live shows to meeting, interviewing and trying to watch scores of bands at the 2008 Warped Tour, ruKus radio has had the pleasure of bringing the finest in independent music to the unwashed masses.

The stream, *sniff*, has since passed. The manhour to actual man ratio was pretty overwhelming, so the 24/7 stream had ceased to flow...
