Influences	.. Rumba con Son has been inspired by some of the best latin bands that were progressive during the 60's, 70's and 80's. Some of those artists were Johnny Pacheco, Tito Puente, Tito Rodriguez, Ray Barretto, Roberto Roena, El Gran Combo, Willie Colon, Fania All Stars, Fruko y sus Tesos, Bobby Valentin, La Sonora Poncena, and many others. Most of the artists mentioned are still recording and preserving the old school style. Here is a list of titles and popular artists of some of the songs we play. As you might expect, we are constantly updating our repertoire, and so, some of the music we perform may not appear on this list. Orquesta Rumba con Son was officially born on December 21, 2006 in Somerset, New Jersey, but has been playing shows since July 2006. This salsa band is integrated by 12 musicians. Orquesta Rumba con Son is primarily a salsa band, but we also play other tropical rhythms such as Merengue, Bachata, Cumbia, and Bolero.
