Yellow guitar wielding, home-town hero and general Lord of
the Fretboard Az was one of the founding members of RumJunkie
and has been playing guitar since before he was born due to a
genetic mutation that lead to an Ibanez Jem growing alongside
him in his mothers womb.
Following a plane crash in the jungles of Borneo, Az was
brought up by a wild colony of Joe Satriani's and Yngwie
Malmsteens. Upon returning to civilisation, Az formed
RumJunkie with Frowdey and history was made.
Az also plays guitar with ScreamBlueMurder.
Frowdey
Non-Sweaty, Angry God of Thunder Frowdey plays bass and
"sings" for the Mighty 'Junkie. Frowdey's vocals sound like
the bastard off-spring from a mid-70's love in between Lemmy
from Motorhead, The Gods Thor and Zeus and assorted members
of Pans People. His bass playing has been likened to the
sound a speed-freak rhino makes while being hunted by
squadrons of angry knife wielding monkey butlers, it's
massive.
While not playing bass or shouting, Frowdey side lines with
TrunkMonkey, ScreamBlueMurder and the North Curry Freedom
Fighters official band, Bowling For Cash.
James
Ultra fertile, King of the Skins, Jameses came to Taunton after being thrown out of Pembrokeshire for being too damn good. Snapped up by the fledgling RumJunkie, Jameses skill in being too damn good soon got them banned from Rockers.
Recent research has proven that, during peak performances, the speed of Jameses double-bass-drum playing can actually replace sections of the ozone layer, reverse global warming and foster peace and love in the human race. It once brought the Dodo back to life but this was fried and eaten in a bad attack of post-gig munchies. Finger-lickin' good.
Chris
Recent addition Chris brings youth, energy and monster riffage to RumJunkie. As well as learning common theme tunes to 1980 comedy spooky movies.
Chris used to play drums with Take Cover and now plays guitar with RumJunkie, which is ace.
Influences
We have a wide range of influences from Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Metallica, System of A Down, Rancid, NOFX and Slayer through to Elvis and Johnny Cash
Sounds Like
We've got a distinctive, very hard rock-metally sound. Frowdey has a famously loud and distinctive vocal style. We love twin guitar harmony style solos, like maiden in a good way.
You want the best? Well RumJunkie beat them up in the car park and nicked all their gear.
You want it? RumJunkie have got it! You want mental twin guitar madness, we've got it. You want shouty punky vocals with lyrics about Yucca Trees, Internet Girlfriends and getting drunk, we've got it. You want leather clad bondage dwarves dancing in suspended cages with snakes and tigers, well we don't got that, but we know where we can get 'em.
RumJunkie are a four piece metal band from Taunton in Somerset, UK. Formed from the smouldering wreckage of the immortal and mighty CiderMetalFite in 2003, RumJunkie retain the essence of cider-punk with an added dimension or professionalism and a more refined sound.
RumJunkie have played solidly at the Black Horse in Taunton as the band in residence since their formation in 2003, also
playing as far south as Bodmin and as far north as Nuneaton. They have had some exposure (fnah) on local radio playing
live acoustic sessions.
