"Easily one of the freshest, spiciest debut albums to come along in ages. Sydney’s Rumpunch sound like a mutinous crew of pirates drunk on reggae ‘n’ ska being held captive by a band of gypsies determined to sober them up with strong shots of rhythm ‘n’ funk. A lick of The Cat Empire here, a drop of Fat Freddy’s Drop there, Rumpunch combine hot playing with cool melodies, filtering and distilling it all into a smoothly intoxicating and uniquely Australian blend. Rumpunch are currently one of the best live bands around and they have captured all their energy and soul on this excellent debut that JJJ are playing". (Birdland Records)
With style and vigour, rumpunch combine the melodies of reggae, the rhythm of funk
with the wits and gusto of hip-hop. Rumpunch have shared the stage with the likes of Hermitude and Crooked Fiddle Band in the local festival circuit and have been seen playing shows on the sydney scene alongside Blue King Brown, Rastawookie, The Red Eyes, The Imaginaries, Chasm, De Jah Groove, Kobra Kai, The Phonies & King Farook. Their self titled album, Rumpunch, is a collaboration of 70’s roots inspiration, analogue textures and gypsy flair. To top it off, contemporary, candid, punchy lyrics with the groove sitting solidly, first and foremost. Rumpunch debut Album launch on the 21st June was a sell out show at The Gaelic (Surry Hills Sydney), featuring some of Sydney's finest - a night not too have missed!
