Page has been at it again. Hitting the bottle in a thinly disguised attempt at research for his next show.
Actually, that’s not true. Click on the poster to find out how laying off the beer was inspiration for his new exhibition!

Scott ‘sonic’ Newth is one of New Zealand’s most experienced free-lance live sound engineers and still spends much of his time touring the world trying to find that perfect eq. Which with the right microphone placements is usually no eq at all.
He has mixed The Datsuns live since 1999 and has worked with them extensively in over 20 countries since their debut record appeared in 2002. Working in the tiniest clubs, most elaborate concert halls, and biggest of stadiums.
Scott’s live mixes have been heard at most of the worlds biggest festivals, including Summer Sonic (Japan), Southside, Hurricane, Rock am Ring, and Rock im Park (Germany), T In The Park (Scotland), Reading and Leads (England), Pinkelpop (Netherlands), Ozfest and SXSW (USA) and the Big Day Out (Australasia) to name just a few. He has also mixed support acts on tours with The White Stripes, Metalica, Pixes, Velvet Revolver, and The Hellacopters.
Following is a list of bands Scott has mixed live:
Anika Moa, Anna Coddington, Cut Off Your Hands, Cornerstone Roots, The Datsuns, The Mint Chicks, Olmecha Supreme, The Dirtbombs (USA), Lookie Loos, Sahara Hotnights (Swe), Frankenbok (Aus), The Casanovas (Aus), So So Modern, Die! ---> The Datsuns
Rumpus Room’s Scott ‘sonic’ Newth has been travelling the world mixing The Datsuns live shows. His travels have taken him to far off and exotic places, and not so far off less exotic places.
The Datsuns
Scott has also been seen in the studio and has recorded a number of b-sides and singles with the band. He also recorded and mixed the live sound for The Datsuns limited edition DVD available with third album Smoke and Mirrors.
Outa Sight / Outa Mind
Scott and The Datsuns have been in Gothenburg, Sweden recording the band's fourth studio album Head Stunts. Over 19 songs were recorded in various sessions using a Neve console, a Studer 24 track 2 inch tape machine, and a healthy collection of vintage microphones, pre-amps and compressors.
Smoke & Mirrors
Eventually whittled down to 12 songs, Headstunts is out now and is receiving complementary reviews.
Headstunts
Greg Page has also been involved with The Datsuns. He painted up 3000 frames for a music clip for the single ‘Waiting For Your Time To Come’ from The Datsuns 3rd album 'Smoke & Mirrors'. Greg’s highly sort after works have been given a life of their own in this amazing little story of a man who dreams in colour but lives his days in a dreary world of black and white.

Greg recently completed this new video for the single Human Error from the bands 4th album 'Headstunts'.

---> Mobile Stud Unit
Some time ago Chris Paki joined in with the crass punk rock ensemble they call
Mobile Stud Unit. At this time, Chris had already been playing with Fallen (also featuring fellow future Rumpus Room members, Andrew and Scott).
MSU’s controversial sound was changed forever with the arrival of Chris on guitar. Former members of MSU had played everything from the acoustic guitar, to the Kazoo, giving the band an almost hippy punk rock feel, if that is possible. Chris however plugged in his giant Marshal and away the band went, sliming down to a four piece and playing proper punk versions of the back catalogue, as well as continuing on to write some of MSU’s catchiest material.
Sadly MSU recently decided to call it quits, as front man (and only surviving member of the original line up) Marxi decided to hang up the tired old green jump suit he had been struggling into for the last 15 years. Disturbingly, he was probably the closest thing Hamilton, New Zealand will ever see to Elvis.
---> World War Four
What with Greg’s obsession with painting things black, his love of fast cars and big trucks, and a penchant for tights and blonde wigs, it was only a matter of time before he sort therapy as the drummer in a Heavy Metal band.
So when the opportunity came along to drum for World War Four, he could not say no. (If you have seen the other members of WW4, you wouldn’t dare say no either). Greg had already hit it off with front man and New Zealand Heavy Metal / Hard Rock legend Paul ‘The Axeman’ Martin, during a trip they made to the modern day Mecca of all things metal, Ozzfest.
The Axeman’s legendary radio show The Axe Attack has become one of the most iconic radio shows in New Zealand and has led many a young teen straying towards the dark side of the tee-shirt store since the mid 1980’s.
So now, when the moon is full, and Greg has had a tough day working on his many other projects. He often finds himself driving once more into the nether regions of the misty Waikato to bash the drums for World War Four, along with Paul Martin on guitar and Cass Wilson, owner of very large dogs, on the bass.

Rumpus Room continue to work hard on various ideas not directly related to the band. This hiatus from Rumpus Rooming has resulted in a number of other projects and events taking place that we at Rumpus MySpace, will endeavour to keep you up to date with as information comes to hand.
In the meantime take a seat and watch the award winning Greg Page directed music clip for Rumpus Room single ”JBS”. Hand drawn and shot on a budget of nothing in Greg’s Room over the course of one or two long and lonely nights, the clip features 100’s of sketches from Greg’s personal journals, spanning years of scribbling, ranting, and occasional bouts of madness.

---> Southern Tribe
Andrew’s Southern Tribe is not just a whimsical Rumpus Room side project. For Andrew it could be the other way around as Southern Tribe was around long before Rumpus Room came into existence. The distraction of Rumpus Room has meant that Southern Tribe has been put on the back burner for a time. But Rumpus MySpace can now reveal that Andrew has planes anew for the ambient dub based instrumentals that gave him some MTV success a few years back with the track ‘Closer’.
As a child Andrew spent way to many years soldering up home made radio sets and making machines that go ping. After discovering the awesome power of the Atari computer, and the abilities of MIDI, Andrew’s life was changed forever. Armed with the power to process, sample, reconstruct, deconstruct, loop, and layer all at the same time, Southern Tribe was born. Half machine, half organics you really need to hear for yourself the long held Southern Tribe philosophy of taking it easy.
Visit the Southern Tribe MySpace page to see and hear more.
---> artbythepage
Greg continues to work long into the night producing the bizarre little personalities he likes to call art. Often locked away for hours on end, surrounded by the smell of paint, wild cats, weird sudden flashes of light and the odd paint throwing compulsion, Mr page has produced some of the most sort-after works in New Zealand.

You can find a wider selection of his works, many for sale, on his personal website artbythepage. There you can trace some of the history of Greg’s works, see his latest creations, and even bid on something you might like to take home for the kids.
andy
While many would prefer the comfort of a reclining lounge sweet and the soft scrapping of the physiatrists’ pencil to exorcise their demons, Greg prefers to let the darkest reaches of his imagination, his bizarre childhood memories, and his offbeat sense of humour, run wild across the boards.

---> Airwigg Records
Scott spends a certain amount of his spare time (and cash) driving himself mad, releasing compilation CD’s from his home town of Hamilton, in New Zealand. The cities Indie music scene has always produced an eclectic array of brilliant tunes from some very stunning independent bands. Of the four he has put together, three are still available including the latest release Area 07.

---> Duotone
Andrew’s love of machines has gone beyond music and into the big wide world of the world wide web. His media design company Duotone Design & Communication has grown somewhat uncontrollably as Andrew continues to develop his unique take on web design.
While the rest of Rumpus Room has often wondered if Andrew's obsession with codes, computers, and sequencing, is the result of a slight case of autism or perhaps a bump on the head, Andrew suggests that it is merely an escape from the inaccurate and unscientific art of playing guitar for Rumpus Room, and that after a good session of Rumpusing he needs the calm and seclusion of his ever-friendly machinery.
Of course Andrew deals with a number of corporate clients and handles everything from web design to company logos, print media, and on site display material. His first love is the arts and music however, and he is very approachable if you are looking for a web design for your band or company. Contact him through the Duotone website.
---> The Locals
In 2003 Greg wrote and directed his first feature film. The Locals is a b-grade style horror set in the backwaters of the Waikato region in New Zealand. An area Greg spent many nights in driving to and from Rumpus Room practices.
The Locals DVD
The Waikato is prone to sudden mists and fogs and is kind of spooky late at night on the back roads around Huntly and Gordonton. An area also often littered with deserted burnt out wrecks of stolen cars.
This setting inspired Greg to pen the script that would later become his first feature film. The Locals stars John Barker, Dwayne Cameron, Kate Elliott, Aidee Walker, Paul Glover, Peter McCauley and features a soundtrack that includes tracks from The D4, The Datsuns, Mobile Stud Unit and of course, Rumpus Room.

Greg is currently working on new scripts for future features. Keep visiting Rumpus MySpace for more details.
