On recordings, Jonathan Rundman plays most, and sometimes all, instruments. On tour Jonathan usually performs solo-acoustic, but occasionally his entire Minneapolis-based band hits the road as well. Special guest musicians like Beki Hemingway, Jeff Krebs, Bruce Rundman, and George Baum have been known to appear at live performances.
This is the video for Jonathan's song "You Don't Speak For Me" from his double-CD concept album Sound Theology. The video was shot and directed by filmmaker Jeremy Plumb in 2006.
Here's a cell phone video of Jonathan and Beki Hemingway performing the song "Forgiveness Waltz" at a Minneapolis house concert.
Jonathan's usual live band includes bassist/vocalist John Kerns and drummer Troy Alexander.

Born and raised in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Jonathan Rundman has been writing songs and performing across the country since he was 18 years old. He emerged on the national music scene in the late-90s as a Chicago-based touring artist, generating rave reviews in Billboard, Performing Songwriter, Paste, and countless regional publications. Now living in Minneapolis, he continues to tour and record. Jonathan's songs can be heard on radio stations across America, in Scandinavia and England, and have been featured on the Ellen Degeneres Show.
Jonathan Rundman's 2004 album Public Library was produced by Walter Salas-Humara and features legendary New York rock band The Silos as backing musicians. In 2007 Salt Lady Records released The Best of Jonathan Rundman: 20 Songs from the 20th Century, a collection of Jonathan's best songs from his earliest albums. Now in 2008, Rundman presents Insomniaccomplishments, an 18-song CD exploring a surprising array of lyrical topics and musical genres.
Jonathan's song "Front Row at the Fashion Show" appeared on the Paste Magazine CD Sampler in the Dec 07 / Jan 08 issue, along with other artists like Jens Lekman, Mindy Smith, and Jars of Clay.

Hi Jonathan. Your package arrived on Wednesday - thanks so much for sending it. Are you friends with Anna-Marie Kaskinen (we have a few of her songs in our 'All Together' songbooks compiled by Robin Mann)? Does she have a MySpace or artist website? Also, are there any other Lutheran artists/bands from the States that you can recommend to me? Bless ya. Frank
love the video of forgiveness waltz with beki, lowell and company. the screaming kid in the background is a true testimony to the joy of a house concert.
Just want to send you a big hello. Since the family cabin has been sold, I don't really get up through the Twin Cities. :-( You should keep us Chicago folk posted when you play here OK? Rock on Jonathan.
Wow! Jonathan...thank you so much for the add. I love your music. It is so hard to find that soulful, real-as-a-velvateen rabbit musician, such as yourself...Bill Mallonee...Jason Harrod. That is, those who do it well.
hey jonathan--how are you? i'm doing pretty well. was just checking my messages and thought I'd send u a lil hello. hope all is going well. take care & God bless.
DUDE! I'm so stoked you have "Ask me in Nebraska" on your page. I fell in love with that tune when you played it a couple months back at the... where were we?...400 Bar? anyway, great live, and love the album track, too.
Abacab was always my favorite Genesis song. The cranking keyboard line where Phil goes...You want it you got it, you want it go...that's the best part of the song. I'd love to do that acoustic sometime.
Thanks for being there Jonathan... your lyrical hints were priceless to me in the face of severe memory lapse! I was shooting from the hip, and you were my ricochet plate~
i'm really excited to pick up PRE and especially the greatest hits. especially the rarities disc! keep on rockin' and rollin', cuz personally i prefer nerd rock jonathan music to churchy jonathan music.
heya, i was just watching you on youtube. the kyrie never sounded better. :0) anyways, how have you and dawn been? I see you two have a couple cuties. congrats :0) got any trips to the west coast (aka emmaus) anytime soon? hope all is well and God Bless
You have a new nickname - "Geen." With a hard G. Let me explain. My sister said we are probably going to Seguin to see you in concert. Our Dad said "You're going to see Geen? Who's Geen?" I explained that we are likely going to Seguin, and he said "Oh! Seguin! I thought you said you were going to see Geen." We talked about it for a few more minutes, then my Dad said, "I still want to know who Geen is." Best I can figure out, it must be you.
You're welcome---glad they came thru okay. If you want to use any of them, it's cool, just let me know. Any chance you could put Hey Hey Samuel on your page--i like that one and i know my lil friend, Kaylee, does. That would be fun! Take care.
