Run-DMC defined the sound and vision of old-school hip-hop. Without the Hollis, Queens trio, hard rap rhymes wouldn't be laced with metal guitars and big-beat drums, and kids wouldn't have sported Adidas and fat gold chains. They were the first rappers to go platinum, get on MTV, make the cover of Rolling Stone, and the only ones to command the stage at Live Aid. Music in America would not be what it is today without Run-DMC.
