About me: Beginning June 14, 2008, a small team of runners ran across America to raise awareness about the lives of those service members who fought, to activate their memories and keep their spirits alive, to support organizations that help wounded veterans and the families of those killed (Wounded Warrior Project, Yellow Ribbon Fund, Helping Unite Gold Star Survivors, and the 1st Lt. Michael J. Cleary Memorial Fund, and to aid the healing process for those Americans whose lives have been affected by the war.
On the final day of the 2008 memorial run, over 9000 runners in nine countries and forty-three states collectively ran almost 36,000 miles in honor and remembrance of all fallen service members killed in both Iraq and Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom).
We encourage all Americans to continue to honor our fallen service members. Run one mile for a service member on August 22/23, 2009, the 2nd anniversary weekend of Run for the Fallen's finish at Arlington National Cemetery. It is on this weekend that we run in honor and remembrance of all fallen service members killed in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
We aim to raise awareness about the lives of those who fought, to support organizations that help wounded veterans and the families of those killed, and to aid the healing process for those Americans whose lives have been affected by the war.
We refuse any political affiliation or agenda, but simply honor those who have fought, and those who have fallen under the American flag.
yo speed trainer!! I saw the blog piece on you guys..so amazing!!! Really proud of you buddy. Hope you are well. let's talk soon...miss you like crazy! -Mouth
Thank you all so much for what you are doing. I know that you are all very busy and probably starting to really tire, but know many of us are sending positive thoughts, love, and encouragement your way. God Bless you all! P.S. our local papers had some nice coverage of your stay at my parents and the run on the 30th.
Thank you so much for all that you do. My husband, SSG Brian Mintzlaff, was KIA while on his third tour in Iraq. I was unable to come up to Tennessee when y'all ran his mile, but my father and uncle were there. I have added an album on my myspace of the pictures they took. It's really difficult for me to express how much what you are doing means to me. My husband was worried that if anything happened to him that the general public wouldn't really remember or care. Most of them time, it does seem as though most people have forgotten. But then, I remember people like you--strangers to my husband and myself--who are trying to keep the sacrifices of people like my husband and those he served with in the forefront of our nation's mind. Thank you.
I located a dear friend of mine that you are running for... several of us plan to run a mile that for him too, July 30 i believe in Ill... some of us waited for the runners outside of Wichita Ks, not sure how the run out was for you, as I had morning sickness all day but hope that there were still several there to greet you! From the friend of the fallen Wilsun Mock of Harper KS! Thanks for the run!

They all fought for the Red, White and Blue. The white men, the black men, the Indians too. They were all heroes, or so it is said, When the blood flowed, it was all crimson red. They all fought for freedom, side by side, Some of them lived, and too many died. They were all valiant soldiers, every man, They gave what they had, to the last stand. We shouldn’t forget them, not one single soul, And we should make sure their story is told. They fought for the freedom of every man, Their bravery is known, across our great land. For those up in heaven, or hell here on Earth, We all thank our fathers, for our life since birth. They all are our heroes, a much treasured lot, And we should thank them for all we have got. So raise up your hands, give thanks to a-high For all the brave soldiers who lived and died. As our lives go on, and in freedom we live, We thank every soldier, for what he could give.
“Remember Our Fallen Heroes” If you look in the hearts of our heroes You'll see tears swelled with pride Yet underneath there’s a shadow of sadness For the Soldier no longer at their side. Side by Side they served with honor To God’s arms they go one by one From the hearts of a grateful Nation We remember our Daughters, our Sons. Their selfless deeds have been many. Blood’s been spilled in the sand for liberty. Without hesitation they guarded our freedom Over land, in the skies, on the sea. They answered the cries of the hungry Liberated those whom were suppressed. Courageously they safeguarded our glory With a loyalty that ceases to rest. With love we pay homage to the fallen These patriots, our heroes, our friends. Who've paid the ultimate price for freedom and the flag they chose to defend. Their Service must never be forgotten Their deaths won’t ever be in vain We vow to look after their families and hope our love will ease their pain. This flag is to honor the fallen As a reminder Freedom is not Free These heroes gave their lives for their Country They gave their lives for you and for me.
Thanks for the add! I am so inspired by what you are all doing! So far I have 6 friends logging milage, I will be reporting weekly milage on my blog. Thanks Again :)
Just heard the news that McKay has joined the effort to assist in cinematic documentation. Cannot express how psyched I am for this whole endeavor. Snaps echo into infinite horizons...
