Acting, writing, directing, animating, paiting, ink drawing, making playlists on iTunes for myself before going to work, cooking, rock climbing, disco dancing, philosophizing, and playing games that are almost sports but not really (like ping pong).
Music
This is a list that will increase ad infinitum. Any attempt to list all my favorite bands would be a futile effort, and any attempt to capture the range of my tastes in the tiny confines of a mere list of genres and sub-genres would be, in a sense, disrespectful to the musicians I admire. So, to be fair, I will create a sampler list of five that will change periodically depending on my mood, with my one favorite band always present.
- They Might Be Giants
- Bon Iver
- Band of Horses
- Of Montreal
- We Are Scientists
Movies
Pretty much the same sentiment applies here. We'll do the list thingy again, with my all-time favorite always there.
- Spaceballs
- The Dark Knight
- Labyrinth
- Wonder Boys
- Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
Television
30 Rock, The Office (both American and British versions), House, Wonderfalls, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Lost, Sex and the City (really? Yeah.), South Park, Family Guy, The Simpsons, Malcom in the Middle, Mystery Science Theatre 3000, The Office, The Amazing Race, MXC, Looney Tunes (old school).
And, of course, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.
Books
Better yet, let's try authors: Douglas Adams, Samuel Beckett, Albert Camus, Jack Kerouac, Gregory Corso, Allen Ginsburg, Simone de Beauvoire, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Dave Eggers, Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, Edgar Allen Poe, Kobo Abe, Jasper Fford, George Orwell, Herman Melville, Walt Whitman, and many more.
Some authors I've been meaning to partake of: Tom Robbins, Fyodor Dostoyevski, Philip Roth, James Michner, J.R.R. Tolkein (no, I never have, fuck off).

There have actually been TWO important new stories the last couple days: the Obama pound you know about, but there's also Mike Napoli's mohawk! Yes, that's right, this mohawk has been the talk of the town. ("The town" being Anaheim, naturally.) I've been sent links to like 5 dif. articles about this haircut, and the consequences of it. Here's a wonderful little piece from the LA Times, which was read to me over the phone Thursday morning:
"Superstition highway
Mike Napoli claimed he wasn’t trying to change his luck, but if the catcher didn’t enter Wednesday in a one-for-24 slump, it’s doubtful he would have been sporting a Mohawk.
“It’s the rally ‘hawk,” said Napoli, who hit a sacrifice fly and singled in the Angels’ 5-4 win over Seattle Wednesday.
“We were in the locker room [Tuesday] night, I hadn’t had a haircut in a while, and I wanted to try something different. So, I just did it. Actually, Brandon Wood did it. This is my first Mohawk.”
Napoli sent a picture of his hairdo to his mother, who “wasn’t too happy about it,” Napoli said. His teammates, however, got a kick out of it.
“It’s a good look – it’s getting us wins – but it won’t spread,” pitcher Jered Weaver said. “He’s the only one who could pull it off. He’s the only Riverside guy here.” "
....Oh, those Riverside boys.... And, yes, the "rally-hawk" seems to be working. lol. I love the news lately.

Come rock some Guitar Hero, and support Red Ink! $20 bucks to enter. Come kick some Guitar Hero ass this Thursday at The Spot, 4437 N. Broadway. $20 includes an hour of open bar. Starts at eight!
GAH I couldn't get in to see Bill Clinton! They just announced he was even coming THIS MORNING, cuz he only asked LAST NIGHT if he could come speak on campus today! It was free, with no tickets needed or anything. I got there like.... an hour and a half before if was supposed to start, and I was still maybe a thousand ppl too far back in line. And that room holds over 8,000 ppl. And we were right in the middle of the line, not anywhere near the end.
So I just suck.
I saw him arrive, though, when they drove by... does that count for anything? :(
