Twenty five year old Singer/songwriter Russell Howard grew up in Dallas Texas and was raised by two professional classical musicians. Despite a musical childhood it wasn’t until leaving for college in 2002 that he began to make his own mark with music. Starting small with open mics and battles of the bands, Russell quickly found a home on stage.
In 2006 Russell finished college, packed up his room and headed straight into the studio. A few months later he emerged with a stunning 8-song album called Too Soon/Too Late. Now in 2009, Russell is finally completing this debut project with the release of Too Soon/Too Late 2.0. Rounding out the record with two new songs, 2.0 features the new single, Take Your Time, and a remixed version of the unreleased fan favorite Anna’s Waltz.
Originally written for Russell’s high school graduation, Take Your Time lay dormant during his college years as Russell moved in many different musical directions. Hitting the road in 2007, Russell began to play the song live and finally arrived at an arrangement that captured the soul of the tune.
“It’s a song about looking back. The fact that Take Your Time seems to sum up the rest of Too Soon/Too Late just sealed the deal.” Recorded in the same studio as the original tracks to maintain a sonic balance, the 2.0 songs stand out none the less. On the new tracks, Russell sings with a maturity and finesse hard earned over two years on the road. The 2.0 edition of Too Soon/Too Late offers an unique opportunity to hear the evolution of a promising young artist over the course of one record.
