RUSSELL WICKWAR PRODUCTIONS...
I am Russell Wickwar. I make sounds as wiQwar, and have had music released by the Fence Collective label and radio play from D.J's such as Rob Da Bank, Tom Robinson and Stuart Maconie. As wiQwar I also produce remixes for other bands, some you can hear on this pages' music player.
As well as my own stuff, I enjoy recording and producing other willing musicians. My home is your home, or alternatively as long as I can bike my equipment to a venue, I'm yours for the day! (And the many subsequent hours spent mixing your noise!) My portable set-up is based around a PC laptop running Ableton Live, with a Focusrite Octopre providing mic pre-amps. Microphones owned include industry standards such as the Rode NT1A and Shure SM57, Rode NT3 and an SE1a stereo pair, with regular new additions. I also do field and live recordings with my Zoom H4. Instruments recorded successfully with this set-up have included voice, acoustic guitar, cello, violin, harp, accordion, sitar, guitar amps, percussion, full drum kit, and many non-instruments.
I have enjoyed recording sessions with My Dark Aunt on a well-known local theatre stage and in an old church now home to a martial arts academy, and with 2-piece BK & Dad in their jam factory. I have worked with local harpist Zoe aka the dim goddess, with a song featuring on the latest Howlback Hum compilation. My home has also recently been invaded by members of Cakes & Ale for various recording projects. Again, the results of some of these sessions can be heard on this pages' music player..
If you would like to have some music remixed, or your band recorded and produced, please get in touch. I really do just do it for the love of it, but will only work with bands/musicians who are genuinely doing something original and interesting to my ears.
