Russ completed his undergraduate degree studying with Dr. Alexander Stewart at The University of Vermont where he earned a Bachelors in Music (concentration in Jazz Bass). He is currently pursuing his Masters in Composition with Michael Phillip Mossman at the Aaron Copeland School of Music. Russ leads several projects of original music; A More Perfect Union, Rail, The Nouveau Riche and Airport Machine.
In addition to those listed above Russ has had the privilege of studying with a number of inspiring teachers and mentors including Ben Allison, Darcy James Argue, John Rivers, Ray Vega, Joe Capps, and John McKenna.
