    Russ's Interests
General

Family, Friends, and Faith. I like to laugh. That's the key. Without laughter what do you have? A pretty serious and dull life. Hmmm.... That would suck.

One last interest

I love to read blogs and write silly mindless thoughts. You should as always check out some of the blogs that I write, or you could just not. You do have a choice, but you might be missing out! Or you could be better off than you know!

Just click on a topic to read the full blog

“In the name of the best within you, do not sacrifice this world to those who are its worst. In the name of the values that keep you alive, do not let your vision of man be distorted by the ugly, the cowardly, the mindless in those who have never achieved his title. Do not lose your knowledge that man's proper estate is an upright posture, an intransigent mind and a step that travels unlimited roads. Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it's yours.”

-Ayn Rand ..

Music

"Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent." -Victor Hugo

So to be fair with words I am a fan of many forms of music. I believe music sets the mood for anything in life. What would movies be without scores?

When something eventful in my life happens, there's always a song out there that reminds me of that moment: my first kiss, the first time being with a special someone in a night, the day I found out I wasn't going to graduate, the break-up that set the world on fire, the first time I smoked, and a whole soundtrack fills the air during the darkest most trying time in my life.

Would you like to help me create the mood? What song would you like to hear?

Movies
Photo-Album Quick Link
Television

I don't have many particular shows I watch. I live to catch whatever glimpse of television I possibly can, but that is far and few between. So to say that something is my favorite must mean I can't live without or feel compelled to catch it as much as possible. To which I say within reason, I have no favorite shows, just whatever maybe on the tube at any given time I have to watch.

Books

Those always fun to read textbooks.

Heroes

Those That Do What I Cannot!

We all have choices in life. Some choose to do valiant, respectful, and what some may consider great things. We all have qualities within us that could be considered heroic, it only matters in how we choose to harness them.

I may look at how one person does something and consider that to be heroic, while others believe it to be something for the common good of the people. Example, many may never think to question the job of a postal worker, garbage man, janitor, or maid. They may not even think twice about the job at hand or them to have a heroic backbone, but is this something you picture yourself doing? Don't look down at them as if all they are is the help. I say we all should respect and treat people who are willing to do tasks such as these as heroes. It's not something I would do, so why should I look to them as degenerates?

“A boy doesn't have to go to war to be a hero; he can say he doesn't like pie when he sees there isn't enough to go around”

-Edgar Watson Howe

   Russ's Blurbs
About me:

Introduction

So I've decided to put a little blurb about me once again. Some of them have been pretty long. This one might be no exception as well. We'll just have to see how it all turns out. So join me as I take a journey into the depths that makes the person that I am today.

Here's a quick history lesson of Russ

My father was in the Air Force, so we did a little bit of moving around and was the reason why I was born on Clark AFB, Phillipines. From there, we moved to Vandenberg AFB, CA. Then moved to a a base that no longer exists, which was Chanute AFB, IL. Finally, ended up in the greatest state in the union, Texas. My father retired from the military and got a job at Shepard when I was a freshman in high school. Went to Burkburnett High School for four years, then followed in my dad's footsteps for a bit. Joined the Air Force and got stationed at Langley AFB, VA from 1998 to 2002. Did one 90 day tour in Iceland, but pretty much stayed there the rest of the time. From there I came back home to go to school. Joined the TXANG at Carswell, NAS Jrb in October 2002. By March of 2003 I was activated and had the opportunity to see a lot of sand. Got to camp out in many different Middle-Eastern countries for my almost two years while activated. From there I moved to Fort Worth for two years and went to Tarrant County College. Loved it there, but money ran tight so I packed up and moved back in with my parents to finish up at the local university. Midwestern State University, which reminds me of a large high school more so than an actual university, but hey it's a degree. That's pretty much my life history in a nut shell.

My Family

I don't have any kids, nor do I want any right now. Maybe later, but who knows what the future holds for me. I have 4 brothers (my oldest isn't with us any more R.I.P) and 4 sisters. My mother and father never divorced and been together for 30 something years. I'm the second youngest, so you could only imagine how old the rest of us are. There is one thing that I hold true to my heart and that is my family. Without their love and support, I don't know where I would be.

My Personality

I don't know really how to describe the type of person I am. Guess you could say I'm shy around people I don't know at first, but then when the true me comes out, roughly 15 minutes after knowing you, watch out! You will either instantly love me, or just extremely hate me. I haven't found too many people who are in the middle ground when they get to know me. Either deal with my goofiness, and sometimes rudeness, or don't. I'm still gonna have fun either way. I go out of my way sometimes to be polite, generous, and just out right nice. Some people say almost so much so that they tell me to stop being a door mat. That's probably my one character flaw at times, but sometimes I think that's the greatest thing about my character. Don't get it confused, I'm only that way at first. Hmmm, what else am I willing to divulge. Oh yeah, I'm not a clingy person, nor do I like people to be clingy to me. I try hard not to cling on to one certain person, especially now, because you set yourself up for a grave failure when you start to grow too attached to someone. The last part about me is when I get a little alcohol in me, there's another flag that comes up. I want to be the entertainment. If it works out that way, great, if not, oh well, I still have my dignity(might not be for long, depending on how much alcohol is in me). That's pretty much it.

Last Parting Note

Read my blog to learn more about me, my thoughts, to see crazy movie clips from time to time, and read funny jokes that I find on the internet. I really don't have any kind of theme for the blog. It is as random as I am.

Who I'd like to meet:

Friends

I love to meet new people. Those that have ambition in life. Some driving force that compels them to become greater everyday. Whether it be through faith, life experience, or education. I would love to use my profile to inspire, create laughs, and if nothing else just to allow people a window into my world through my blogs.

I think that life is already hard enough. Why not have some people help you through? Whether it be acquaintances you only know through the internet, someone you've only known for a day and found you here, or those you've known your whole life. I would love to meet someone on here that remembers me from the past. Old elementary school friends that moved away because of a PCS(permanent change of station for those of you who have no clue about military terms). Junior High School friends that I lost contact with through the years and maybe even a few old high school friends. Most of those I still know though. Hell I would even go as far as to say some more of my old Air Force acquaintances that I haven't been able to find. But then again I've found most of those on here.

Allow me to be part of your world as I allow you to be part of mine. Take a journey with me through life. The path has potholes that can easily be paved over. Speed bumps that can we can slow down for. Dead ends that a U-turn can always fix. So if you like anything you read send out a friend's request. I'm only human and if you are as well, then let's see how far this journey of life will take us before we part ways.

"If you don't know where you are going, any path will take you there?" Do you know where you are going?

I would like nothing more than to be your tour guide through life. But I can only guide you through the path that I know.

Hypothetically

O.k. So now here goes the list of people I would like to meet if I could, hypothetically of course.

Jesus, Dalai Lama, Mohammed, Ghandi, Albert Einstein, Napoleon, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcom X, Frederick Douglas, Arthur Ash, Michael Jordan, Robert Frost, Jewel, Edgar Allen Poe, Bill Clinton(oh yes good ole Bill), Ronald Reagan, Anne Frank, Winston Churchill, Ron Jeremy, Eddie Murphy, Tony Blair(I love his speeches), Anne Coulter, Jessica Alba(she will always be my #1), Tupac, Christopher Wallace(aka B.I.G), Kurt Colbain, John F. Kennedy, Jenna Jameson, Ben and Jerry(I love your ice cream guys), Tony "The Tiger," Sponge Bob, The Pink Panther, Woody "The Woodpecker," Mickey Mouse, Goofy(me and him are a lot a like), Chris Rock, The Rock, Christopher Reeves(Superman), and many many other people that help inspire a generation. My hats off to all of you, even the cartoon characters. Maybe one day we can all be seated at a table by the right hand of the one almighty.

Quotes to Live By!

Alright so here are a few quotes, or should I say a quite lengthy list of quotes that help inspire me everyday. I might have some really rough times, but as long as a happy place in my mind exists anything is possible. As long as there are quotes like these, I feel like anything can be accomplished.

"The great and glorious masterpiece of man is to know how to live to purpose."

Michel de Montaigne

"The significance of a man is not in what he attains but in what he longs to attain."

Kahil Gibran

"If you don't know where you are going, you'll end up someplace else."

Yogi Berra

"There are two things to aim at in life; first to get what you want, and after that to enjoy it. Only the wisest of mankind has achieved the second."

Logan Pearsall Smith

"Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions."

"My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness."

"We can live without religion and meditation, but we cannot survive without human affection."

Dalai Lama

"A riot is at bottom the language of the unheard."

"An individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law."

"Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle. And so we must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can't ride you unless your back is bent."

Martin Luther King, Jr.

"Education is the power to think clearly, the power to act well in the worlds work, and the power to appreciate life."

"Honest hearts produce honest actions."

Brigham Young

"All wrong-doing arises because of mind. If mind is transformed can wrong-doing remain?"

"Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment."

"An insincere and evil friend is more to be feared than a wild beast; a wild beast may wound your body, but an evil friend will wound your mind."

Buddha

"Everytime you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing."

"Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies."

"If we want a love message to be heard, it has got to be sent out. To keep a lamp burning, we have to keep putting oil in it."

Mother Teresa

"Who would not, finding way, break loose from hell, . . . . And boldly venture to whatever place Farthest from pain?"

"The city is not a concrete jungle, it is a human zoo."

"Yet from those flames No light, but rather darkness visible."

John Milton

If all our misfortunes were laid in one common heap whence everyone must take an equal portion, most people would be contented to take their own. "

"The unexamined life is not worth living."

"Envy is the ulcer of the soul."

Socrates

"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing."

Helen Keller

"We are all motivated by a keen desire for praise, and the better a man is, the more he is inspired to glory."

Cicero

"Catch a man a fish, and you can sell it to him. Teach a man to fish, and you ruin a wonderful business opportunity. "

"The philosophers have only interpreted the world in various ways; the point, however, is to change it. "

Karl Marx
