With, of course, various kit, lasers, and sometimes, with a robot stage-prop.
Influences
I am not that easily influenced, and most of the sound I have is what I came up with myself, as I never try to "sound like" anyone else.
However, I have many favourite artists in an ever-growing list, and listened to lots of underground college radio broadcasts, and have been a radio and club DJ myself, for many years.
Other notable projects I have been personally involved with are:
At This Remove, Corporate Culture, Dog OK, The Dystopia Project, Elektrodroid, The Fashion Police, Nocturnal Waveforms, Source of Gravity.
Sounds Like
Probably sounds like nothing else, but YOU, the listener, must decide for yourself, what this sounds like to YOU.
Now, that you've listened and enjoyed the music, and perused the wonderful photos, read the page, and were entertained by the videos, don't forget to add yourself to the "friend" list. :) feel free to post comments on pix, but please don't spam.. ;)
Much of the music coming from the Robotique Records label, resembles the sound of music released during the time of the old Factory Records label, the two labels being very similar in genres and quality of music.
This page is the solo artist electronic-music project of long time THE FASHION POLICE keyboardist and composer, Rus Stewart. For anyone who perhaps may not be aware of this, the American synthesizer band The Fashion Police are internationally renowned for smash hits such as "Kick the Party In", "High Fashion", and the highly acclaimed The Fashion Police debut album, "A Secret Policeman Patrols the Night."
(see myspace.com/fashionpolicemusic. beware of imitators, this is the only one that was around at that time.)
In 2007, Rus Stewart, long time keyboardist of the renowned American band, has finally relaunched and re-invented full-on as a solo artist, a bit like the way it was when he started out, but more refined and focused.
He follows nobody, but leads himself, crafting his works in his infectious and addictive sonic textures artistically painted from his palate of synthesizers onto a huge, ever-growing wall of sound, that can sometimes be simple and sensible, and complex and intriguing, all at once.
The artist is also known for his work with the renowned UK Source of Gravity crew and label. His 12" vinyl single with them (their brilliant remix of "Earth to Mars" with "Atlantis") topped club and dance radio charts in Europe and around the world, and top DJs featured it in their mixes. His rendition of "Winter's Discontent" for S.O.G. also topped Ambient radio mixshows around the globe, and had other hits as well, in collaboration with S.O.G.
He also was a renowned radio DJ, airing mixshows featuring underground and up-and-coming electronic, as well as classic new wave and alternative artists around the globe, in a similar vein as the John Peel Sessions on Underground Groove Radio for many years, and was also a top club DJ, focusing towards similar genres.
However, his primary interest is focused toward his own music, he has headlined for many thousands of fans, appeared on stage with other name artists, and is focused towards an electro-psychedelic-ambient/new wave sound, reminiscent of Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream, Jean Michel Jarre, Tim Blake, Depeche Mode, Enigma, Section 25, New Order, Joy Division and Kraftwerk, all somehow Vulcan mind-melded together into one.
"my music is usually abstract, and mostly built around instrumentals, and, when there are any vocals, if the vocals are done by myself, they generally are minimal and spoken-word, often with much echo, reverb, vocoder and other effects, a strategy that has served me well over the years. the words that i write for them can be generally, abstract, and feel as if it could be somewhat a sort of mysticism, which allows the listener to interpret them however he or she feels."
It is music for the open-minded soul who is weary of mediocracy.
If you've added yourself to the fan lists of the other project's pages, DON'T FORGET TO ADD YOURSELF TO FAN LIST HERE. ;)
