About Russ Van Rooy

Russ Van Rooy is a composer/performer of melodic soundscapes, psychedelic rock guitar rave-ups, and acoustic folk rock songs popular on other planets. Much of what inspires Russ is the mythos and cosmology of the universe, the strangeness of consciousness and the mathematics of reality. Russ' instrumentation includes electric and acoustic guitars, analog echo and fuzz tone and sound manipulations using Audacity.

Love all people, but not all ideas; think to distinguish helpful ideas from hurtful ones. We are immersed in a culture of destructiveness, and we must end it before it ends us. Our many problems have a common root: Bullies, liars, thieves, and murderers — particularly those in public office — believe people are motivated only by greed and fear. They want us to share that belief, because they use it to justify themselves and to manipulate us. That belief shapes the economic and political systems of the world. But you and I have found something better inside ourselves and our friends. It's in everyone, if we can just wake them — we're all one flesh and blood. Let us spread that word, for until we do our other advances will be minor and temporary. The outcome to the ideological struggle is not yet determined, so no one can afford to be a spectator. These problems are not new, but lately they've become so blatant that we've begun to understand them. It's time to end the military-industrial complex and the corporatocracy. We the people must control government, and government must control business, not the other way around. The Wavewalkers are the most recent musical venture for Raymond Gorman, who was in one of my favorite bands, That Petrol Emotion. He's got some demos floating around that are very good.
