The Rusty Chain Band is not an actively performing band. It is a great side project and something I still enjoy doing when time allows. In mid 2005 I was able to pull together some good friends and fellow musicians to perform a number of tunes I had written. We cut these tracks at the PUS Cavern Studios here in Sacramento in one afternoon.
I am currently playing with the Driving Blind Band full time now and have been for the past year.
If you happen to like these tunes and want to get the full CD, just email me and I'll tell you how.
An interesting genealogy/chronology of the Rusty Chain Band:
About 9 or 10 years ago I was playing in a band with Rick Rapp called the Blues Revelators. Our singer abruptly left the band and left us hanging with several gigs lined up. A frantic search for a singer lead me to Scott Rich, who was able to slide right in and finish out our remaining schedule. Scott also turned out to be a talented drummer as well. Afterwards, Scott left to form his own band, Boiler Room.
About a year later, with the Blues Revelators now defunct, I ran into Scott at a Boiler Room gig. I sat in with him that night and as it turned out, he was seeking a guitar player to replace the departing Grant Urias. I joined Scott in Boiler Room along with Lightning Sam Passanissi on guitar.
Eventually Boiler Room ran it's course and Lightning Sam and I formed the Chain-Lightning Band pulling in Ripley Howe and Patrick Collins (the rhythm section from Blues Farm) to back us. Scott sat in frequently but eventually this band too ran it's course.
I ended up playing with Sacramento party band, TightSqueeze for the next 2 years until I got a call from Patrick asking me to fill in some gigs with Blues Farm. That lasted a good 4 years but eventually ran it's course.
Some of the Blues Farm guys and I regrouped as Driving Blind, changed musical direction to a little more blues-rock based and that's where I am today.
The tracks on this CD were recorded in early 2005. I had these tunes kicking around for some time and wanted to get them down on disc. So I booked some studio time, called these guys up and we recorded these tracks live in the studio on a Saturday afternoon.
