Cool Jump Blues & Wild Rockabilly!
After six years of playing as Rusty & the Dragstrip Trio, with weekly gigs at the Mustang Bar (Perth, Western Australia), two successful tours of the U.S.A. (playing the famous Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender each time), numerous festivals, and private functions around Australia, the band took a break from May 2007 to September 2009.
During this break, a new band formed; the "Rusty Pinto Combo", specializing in 40s and 50s jump blues and rockabilly. Still full of the same raw energy, enthusiasm, and with a broader range of music, the Rusty Pinto Combo will not disappoint Rusty & the Dragstrip Trio fans. Currently both bands exist and play different repertoire, each with their own focus and sound.
Playing 50s rock'n'roll, 40s jump blues, wild rockabilly, and new original song, the Rusty Pinto Combo's sets have wide appeal.
Inspired by artists such as: Roy Brown, Johnny 'Guitar' Watson, Muddy Waters, Arthur Crudup, Wynonie Harris, Howlin' Wolf, Pat Cupp, Ray Charles, Hank Williams, Elvis Presley, and the Johnny Burnette Trio, the Rusty Pinto Combo recreate and reinterpret music from a long-gone era.
Featuring: Marc Gordon (electric guitar), Richie Balazic (double bass), Matt Hanson (drums), Rusty Pinto (lead vocals & acoustic guitar), and Damian Denyer (saxophone).
The Rusty Pinto Combo has an original sound and style that will take you back to those old blues haunts and rockabilly honky tonks.
