Ruth Sadi El is the creator and illustrator of this special character named David. Her name was (formerly Wanda M. R. Garrett) when Little David was created.
She changed her name due to her religious beliefs and discovering who she really is in Father God's plan for her life.
A lot of herself went into the creation of this little boy. In dealing with her own physical limitations. She often wondered how a child would feel going day to day not being able to get around like other children. She felt these special little ones went through the same depression and frustration just like the adults. So hence Little David was created.
This is a heartfelt and delightful poetic picture book that will take you into the life of this special little boy, who keeps a smile on his face. This book is an important read for all, young and old, parents and teachers. There is something in this picture book for everyone, of all ages. It will truly speak to your soul. This is the first in a series of Little David books. "Little David 2" will be out soon called, "Little David is Having a Really Bad Bad Day."
Below you will find her first book review from Black Butterfly Review by Eleanor Shields. This is Ruth's pride and joy; having someone else feel what she has always felt about her book.

Little David
Wanda M.R. Garrett penned and illustrated a very delightful and moving poetic rhyming picture book.
The book starts off with a dynamic poem entitled You Are Somebody Special and proceeds with a poetic story about a character named David.
As you turn the pages about a day in the life of David, you realize that David truly is a special little person. The book walks you through the joy that David gets out of everyday life. David shows you that it is the little things that count and although you may not get what you want out of life, you need to be grateful for the life that you have.
Ms. Garrett, does a wonderful job at explaining to children and parents alike, that you have to consider yourself wonderful, because you are a creation of God.
While reading this book, I was not aware that David was in a wheel chair, but once it ended with his prayer, I was most definitely inspired by the words that I read. I would recommend this book to children of all ages, because it took a children’s book to make me remember that God made me special and unique just as I am.
Bravo Ms. Garrett for getting across this most important message.
