"With a constant stream of me-too independently produced new releases coming in, all demanding time to be heard and reviewed, it is indeed refreshing when one among them has something genuinely different or unique to offer the listener." - Peter Thelan, EXPOSE Magazine
"Local Legends Rutherford blend jazzy rock instrumentation with Ruth Acuff's sweet and dreamy vocals to decidedly gorgeous results." -True/False Festival Guide 2009
"Ruth Acuff: Best Columbia Female Vocalist of 2008" - Inside Columbia Magazine
From the mid-west melting pot of Columbia MO comes the equally eclectic quartet Rutherford. Drawing from such influences as Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, and Counting Crows, songwriters Ruth Acuff and Jeff Mueller create sweeping compositions accented with Beatle-esque harmonies. Pat O'Driscoll adds a third voice as well as excellent guitar that is sometimes atmospheric and at other times bold. Brian Kent goes beyond keeping the beat, infusing each song with infectious energy atop a solid foundation. Rutherford is currently in pre-production for their second studio album, tentatively entitled "Logic & Chemistry".
Rutherford has performed @ The Blue Note, Mojo's, Eastside Tavern, The Martini Bar, Cherry Street Artisan, and The Blue Fugue (Columbia, MO), The Broadway Oyster Bar, Pop's Blue Moon and Magee's (St.Louis, MO), Springfield Brewing Company (Springfield, MO) as well as Camp Zoe (in Salem, Mo), The Record Bar (Kansas City, MO), Cafe Acoustic (Saint Joseph, MO) Anna Bananas (Honolulu, Hawaii), R&B's (Sand Island, Hawaii) and Blake's on Telegraph (Berkeley, CA.)
Rutherford has shared the stage with Kopecky Family Band, Darling Disarm, Shawn Mullins, Saving Jane, Ludo, Richard Lloyd, Dana Cooper, The Bottlerockets, Noah Earle, Old School Freight Train, Bockman, Sal Retta, East Ash Street Band, Joe Stickley's Blueprint, The Station, Split Lip Rayfield, Amsterband, Mark Bilyeu, Spookie Daly Pride, The Doxies, Stendek, The Make Believe, Nova Lunacy, Casey Reeves, Two Gallants, Slugtrail, Thinline, 40 Thieves, The Follow, Javier Mendoza Band, In Thicket, Sea of Red, The Mathmatics, Gypsy Switch, The Passion, and many others.

Hey, ask your main drummer Mr. Kent (aka Doktor Beatbox) about touring Scandanavia and his chance meeting with the infamous Mr. Novy, maker of alchemistic sauce and then playing a festival with New Moody Army's (UK) drum kit, and how we lost the bass player. Believe he slumbered in the brush at said festival. But it turned out OK because Mr. Kent and I had an extra breakfast ... in the hotel that it'd taken me 2 months to convince the festival was completely necessary.
