Recently Vacated Graves was originally conceived by Tim Regan of Burning Shadows and Brett Greenfield, in association with Magrudergrind. The idea was "what if corpses came back to life and played some fuckin great metal?!" Tim mentioned this idea to Marc of MG, who created a song that was the precursor to zombie metal. While it was hilarious, it did not completely sync with Tim's ultimate vision of the sonic undead. Tim then, in the late summer of 2002 wrote "Brraaiinnss!!" It was a slow, doomy creation of midi, guitars, bass, and brains. Two more songs followed suit shortly thereafter. About a year later, Tim was at a show in Philadelphia (over two hours away from home) when someone overheard him talking about RVG and accosted him about it. Without any active promotion, the zombie-metal word had spread this far. The full-length zombie album entitled "True Zombie Metal" was released in 2004 and followed by an international tour. After a handul of shows the next summer, it was time to conjure a new album. "Former Human Sergeant," the title track of which is an epic 20 minutes of true zombie metal, was released on Halloween 2005 and is but a hint as to what the band will offer in the future.
