Living just on the outskirts of Riverside, RW Bivins is already establishing a strong following as one of California's most prolific & unique unsigned artists...
Listen.com has described Bivins' music as "angry, dramatic, properly enunciated piano-led tracks…" In this day & age when music has been condensed into very niche & overcrowded genres, Bivins has made an impact on the So Cal music scene & has changed the idea of what rock can & should be. Some of the talented artists he has worked with include Big Tage (SUSU), SVA & many others.
An experienced performer spending most of his early career as frontman to various bands, Bivins has created a trademark style blending Hard Rock with powerful melodic piano rifts complemented by his deep emotional vocals. Although it is difficult to categorize Bivins’ sound, he has been described as a modernized, more intense version of DreamTheatre, or another twist on the style of H.I.M. He has also been described as a bit of Jonathan Davis of Korn crossed with a young David Bowie.
In his first solo album, Bivins combines strong hooks with emotionally gripping lyrics that challenge ideals about our world today: In the title track "The Hate Divine," he calls out the hypocrisy in our everyday world which shows us both good & bad to the point of numbing our emotion. "Fake Reality" is a song written from the perspective of a loved one in a coma asking to be freed from their pain. "Darkest Dream" is a song about domestic abuse & escaping tragedy. With these & other songs to be featured on his now complete debut album, Bivins seeks to make people consider topics they otherwise would dismiss.
One of Bivins' recent accomplishments is ranking in the top three in Samsung / Rockstar Energy Drink's Battle of the Bands in which unsigned artists competed for a coveted spot on the Get a Life Tour. Although the entries were dominated by bands, Bivins managed to stand out to voters & come out on top only weeks into his new venture as a solo artist.
Evident in his massive online following, Bivins has definitely struck a note with the music-loving community & the industry at large. His next venture is to develop music to possibly be featured in film & television.
It has been a very long & difficult journey for this rising star, but great effort is rewarded with great success. RW Bivins has dedicated his life to making music that matters & intends to leave his mark on the world.
