Cumberland Belle the band grew out of a need for DIY singer/songwriter Ryan Bailey's need to have a backing band to play his tunes for live shows. As the band began playing together regularly, a chemistry developed. According to Bailey, "the more we played together, the more fun we had, and the better the songs sounded. I'm pretty sure this lineup is going to be around for quite a while." After well-received shows at local hot spots The Windjammer and the Village Tavern, having shared the stage with such acts as Owen Beverly and Mark Bryan (of Hootie and the Blowfish fame), the band is quickly filling it's calendar playing dates at venues around the lowcountry and looking to expand into the surrounding markets playing their own version of alt-country/ folk-rock calling to mind such acts as Ryan Adams, Neil Young, and Tom Petty. Ryan has also been busy putting the finishing touches on his debut full-length solo record, playing the bulk of the instruments himself, while enlisting additional help from members of Cumberland Belle, as well as guest appearances from Stephen Sandifer of Dangermuffin and Matt Podesla, formerly of Crowfield and The Working Title.
