Acoustic-Funk-Balladry? Pop-Blues-Americana? These are the noble attempts at classifying the original music created by the California based singer songwriter Ryan Bisio. Typically garnering praise for his charismatic, humorous stage presence and magnetic personality, it is Bisio’s ability to fuse genres into original songs which enables music fans the unique entertainment experience.
Bisio’s live solo performance defies what even the most veteran music lovers have come to expect. Bisio has opened for Grammy Award Winning artist Shelby Lynne, and Rolling Stone’s Top 100 guitarist Greg Ginn, who dubbed Bisio, “An exciting young guitar player.” This type of response is in large part due to Bisio’s remarkably large hands, “which have enabled him to take his guitar playing where precious few musicians are able”- Matt Paruolo 831 Magazine.
After performing his music in Europe, Bisio just finished his third album titled “Rose Side of the Thorn.” The multi-instrumentalist plays guitars, piano, bass, harmonica, ukulele, accordion, and delivers a timeless vocal on the record. This collection encompasses all of Bisio’s influences- ranging from Tom Waits, Elliot Smith, Dave Matthews, Bob Dylan, and Michael Jackson. Bisio's lyrics feature a keen sense of wordplay, articulating quirky phrases and inquisitive stories which unite the listener and song. In speaking about the album, Bisio says, “This record has illuminated a path toward becoming the type of songwriter I want to be.”
Bisio is now co-fronting the band "Ryan Bisio and The Carroussel", which includes Andrea Blunt on vocals, piano, and violin, as well as Skylar Campbell on drums, and Tim Poulton on bass.
