Ryan Drickey is a busy freelance violinist/fiddler and singer, known for his subtle and expressive touch. His influences range from the 20th century classical virtuoso tradition to the rural old-time fiddling of Appalachia, from the formidable traditions of Scandinavian dance music to the wild intricacies of American Jazz. While remaining deeply respectful of the traditions from which he has learned, Ryan brings his own musical language into everything he plays.
Ryan can be often be heard playing concerts and dances in and around Colorado, collaborating with artists such as Jayme Stone, KC Groves, Taarka, Sandra Wong, Grant Gordy, and Kailin Yong. He won the Rockygrass fiddle contest in 2007, and has performed with Matt Flinner, Darrell Scott, Opera Colorado, Slipstream, Boulder Acoustic Society, The Greeley Philharmonic, The Denver Philharmonic, and many others. His current projects include The Expedition Quartet, The Hartford Review, Honey Don’t and the Steamboat Springs Orchestra.
