Ryan Kickland is a songwriter, performer, composer and arranger of original and diverse musical works including folk & world music, psychedelic rock, ambient/atmospheric sound experimentation and film scores. He was also the vocalist, guitarist and songwriter in the phenom psychedelic/fusion rock band, Animalcule, which dis-banded in 2006.
Ryan Kickland's folk music is less about pop-functionality than it is about content, imagery and mood. His writing maintains a gritty social conscience and a personal depth that explores different dimensions of the human condition, metaphysical and spiritual concepts, social and humanitarian issues, introspection and artistic expression, while also providing lighter images of joy, salvation and redemption. His music often includes elements of humor, fantasy and the downright bizarre.
On the other side of the musical coin, Ryan's ambient, electronic and instrumental soundscapes (which make up his world, fusion and atmospheric body of work) range from the murky depths of psychedelic funk/fusion and prog, to Eastern-inspired ragas, to the swirling sound of his symphonic analog arrangements. Ryan is a talented multi-instrumentalist and accomplished guitarist who's stylistic, liquidy guitar playing and intricate scale work are staples of his rock and fusion compositions.
Born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1977, Kickland was fortunate enough to be raised by a family of musicians. His father, Rocky Kickland and his mother, Marcella Remund (along with step-father Al "AR" Remund) have been staples of the Midwest music community for nearly thirty years.
Kickland grew up and dug his musical roots in South Dakota, where he began playing music as a young child. In his late teens, he started the cult phenom psychedelic rock group, Animalcule, with bassist and longtime friend, Josh Hilpert. Over the next ten years, Animalcule, comprised of Kickland, Hilpert, keyboardist Pat Ondrozeck and drummer Clint Wood, went on to gain a substantial following throughout the Midwest. Animalcule was heralded as a psychedelic tour de force, igniting the music scene throughout the central United States. Kickland began to truly dig into his folk roots around 2001, when he began releasing solo folk recordings in his spare time. Since the dis-banding of Animalcule in 2006, he has continued to pursue his solo music across multiple genres.
Ryan Kickland is a licensed artist through Rumblefish Inc. in Portland and Music Dealers Co. in Chicago. He maintains his own record label, "Trick of the Desert Records", he is a highly ranked favorite on Garageband.com, was a finalist in the 2005 "International Songwriter of the Year" competition, and has toured the Midwest, the South and the Northwest US.

I’ve been a music journalist for more than 10 years. Over the years, many artists and managers have asked me what the best way to break into the European music market is.
Here are some things you can do:
Publish artist press releases, news, and tour dates to the CountryHome Forum on MySpace, http://groups.myspace.com/CountryHomeMagazine , CountryHome Forum is part of CountryHome, http://www.CountryHome.de , Germany's Premier Country Music Online Magazine. Everything you publish to the CountryHome Forum will be published in my weekly Newsletter which has over 80,000 readers.
Send me CDs and DVDs for review and set up an artist interview with me. All reviews and interviews will be submitted to the magazines I'm writing for. More information for which magazines I'm writing can be found at http://www.MySpace.com/ChristianLamitschka
Upload artist videos to http://www.MyVideo.de and http://www.ClipFish.de . Both websites are like http://www.YouTube.com and uploading videos is free. The websites are completely in German. If you don’t speak German and need assistance, I will help you open an account and upload a video for 25 Euro. Each additional video upload for the same artist name and at the same video website is 10 Euro.
If you have more questions about the European music market or about any of the information I send to you today, please contact me at Ch.Lamitschka@t-online.de too.

We're people in the industry/scene who understand what musicians and fans want. We're creating a place where music in the most important thing. Remember when Myspace was a cool place for band to be discovered? Now in 2009 it's basically nothing but bands adding bands! Not to mention tons of fans have moved on to facebook because of all the band spam! Yeah that's right, sorry to tell you kids, but the industry knows your numbers are the result of "friend blasters" and spending day and night doing random add's. No one is impressed! So, what will be the site that Facebook defectors and music fans search when they want to hear some music?
Band Array Dot Com
Sign up now, get your band name before someone else steals it! Fans sign up and get free downloads from the bands!
So why join up to a new site? It has all the perks of Myspace, BUT, you can also create a store right on your page to sell ALL your merch including digital media! And the best part is, YOU get paid direct via PayPal. No middle man to cut into your profits! One stop for you and your fans! And Hey, you can always use more exposure right?!?
Hey Ryan, really diggin' the new web page and the new tunes! I had a hard time deciding which one to feature on my profile but finally decided on Bear Fight. I also put a link to your new official band web page. You are a unique talent Ryan.
Today I would like to let you know about two print magazines in Germany I'm writing for.
"Living Line Dance", reporting about line dance and country music, and "Folk Magazine", reporting about folk and country music. The magazines are high respected in Europe. They offer you a good chance to publicize yourself in Europe and Germany.
For more information, please contact me at MySpace or send email to Ch.Lamitschka@t-online.de with the headline "Advertise at Living Line Dance and Folk Magazine".
How's it going? There is a free track available for you at the moment on our myspace page. Just click the FREE DOWNLOAD box at the top of the page and enter a valid email to download the tune. How cool is that!
Have a great week and thank you very much for being electronically connected to us as friends and fans.
