Hi...I’m Ryan! :-)
You could say that my music is my passion. I write songs and have been fortunate enough to sing them in different places around the world.
My family says that I started singing before I started talking. Apparently my great grandmother used to hold me in her rocking chair while singing “Jesus Loves Me” and I would hum it back and mimic her. Hmm...wonder if I sang ..??
I like to play basketball, tennis and most recently I’ve been crowned the “king of ping pong” in our house.
I love watching sappy movies.
My best friends in the world are usually people who like my music. If you “get” my music, then you probably “get” me, because it’s who I am.
I’m a fairly easy going guy. I dig it when everyone wins. If something isn’t right, you’ll hear about it in my songs.
I love getting dressed up...but these days I usually stick to blue jeans and a tank top since it’s so hot here in Nashville.
I was born in a small town called Belwood Ontario, where the population sign says “still growing!” I’m totally a product of my roots...I was raised on a beef farm. I remember my dad giving us chores every week that we would have to do around the farm. I always had to cut the grass...100 acres is a lot of grass, I tell ya!
I toured England and Wales in a boys choir when I was 10 singing choral vocal music. I was a soprano back then. ;-)
I started writing songs when I was 13 years old. My first song “Me and Maria” was a big hit at my high school. I’m a little more used to it these days, but I remember being REALLY nervous when I performed it in front of the whole school.
Lately I’ve been writing songs with Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys. Cool eh? (Ack! Yeah...I’m Canadian…haha!)
Call me idealistic, but I believe that you shouldn’t have to look too hard for love. I think it should come naturally. If it’s meant to be, it’ll happen. This doesn’t mean that I don’t like writing songs about love and relationships though. I am constantly inspired by the relationships of people around me. I could pass you on the street, and an hour later, you could be the main character in my newest song.
I am really tall...so I apologize in advance if you ever happen to be the unlucky person sitting behind me at a movie.
I always try to look for the good in people. I usually trust someone until they give me a reason not to.
Ok I like Taylor Swift I think she is a great songwriter and has incredible stage presence.
I know it probably sounds geeky, but sometimes I like to read the dictionary.
I have a teenage brother and sister. She is a bookworm and he is a real ladies man. We had a family band when we were younger. My brother played the drums and my sister played the piano.
I’ve been lucky enough to travel to some pretty cool places and share my music with different people in different cultures. My dream has always been to create honest music and make a difference in the world. It’s very fulfilling to sing to an appreciative audience.
I love constructive feedback. I always figured you can’t keep getting better at something without others opinions.
I overanalyze almost everything.
I recorded my first CD at a local studio when I was 13 years old. Maybe I’ll let you hear it someday. I kinda laugh at it now, but I’ve grown a lot musically through the experiences I’ve had in recording studios over the years. I’ve been really blessed to work with so many talented musicians, producers and songwriters.
I used to come home after school each day and groove on my brothers drum kit.
My parents put me in classical piano lessons when I was 5 years old. I picked up the guitar at age 7 because even then I knew I wanted to be a rock star. I’ve never looked back since!
