I am a NY based comedian touring clubs and theaters all over the United States. Most recently I’ve been seen performing at great venues like the Bushnell Theater in Hartford, CT, in national commercials, and taping a stand up performance for HBO’s Comedy Festival...which...has been released on a great DVD called "Brew HaHa Comedy Festival: Vol 1".
I’m staying busy with stand up dates, producing and acting in a number of different film/TV productions. My stand up has been featured on Fox News and I can be heard on my nationally broadcast radio spots called "The Ryan Reaction".
Next up I’m writing and will be starring in a sitcom pilot I’m co-producing with Cool Hand Pictures. I can’t say much about the premise, but we’re looking to recruit some heavy hitters to be a part of the cast.
I’m also co-directing a film festival in my hometown of Manchester, CT called the Silk City Flick Fest. If you’d like to submit a film, visit the website: www.silkcityflickfest.com
You can also hear more by watching this interview I did recently with Inside Entertainment.
I loves me some performing so be sure to check the page for tour updates and feel free to demand I come to your city by clicking the Demand It feature located in the ’Who I’d Like To Meet’ section!
ALSO, SHOWTIME has bought the boxing documentary I produced! It’s about a boxer from Brooklyn, training for and fighting in a title fight at Madison Square Garden! It’s called "Magic Man" (after Paulie "Magic Man" Malignaggi, in my top friends section). It screened at the Hoboken Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for Best of the Festival!
Check back for show dates...and of course you can find out more on my website which is ryanmaloney.net!

General
Stand Up Comedy. I love it. I love everything about it. Even the parts most comedians could do without, I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Producing the "Crash Course in Comedy" series for Comedy Central made me think of an interview I did for Finnish radio. It was for a radio show hosted by one of Finland's most successful, most talented and most popular comedians, Andre Wickstrom.
Andre helped start the recent comedy boom in Finland and traveled to the US to learn more about stand up comedy and what its like in the US after developing into the great art form its become here in the States. After he saw my set at New York Comedy Club, he asked if I would be interested in meeting him the next day at Jimmy's Coffee Shop in midtown Manhattan so he could interview me for his radio program. It was very interesting to talk with him about stand up and if all of Finland's comics care as much about comedy as Andre does, their comedy scene is in very good hands.
Clips from the interview are included for you to hear right below. Although he hosts the radio series in another language, he conducted the interview in English. He covered many topics such as:
"Why do YOU do stand up comedy?"
"What was your first time on stage like?"
"As an American comedian, is it better to be in NY or LA?"
"How competitive is the comedy scene here in the US?"
"Can you make a living doing stand up here in NY?"
"What type of material is best to do here in the States?"
"What are you looking to achieve in comedy?"
"If you landed a successful TV/Film career, would you still do stand up?"
...and much, much more...click on the player below and check it out! It was fun to do and I'm glad I can share it with you!
ALSO...this MP3 is an interview I did this past July...from the Showcase Radio Comedy Hour out of Atlanta! The audio is slightly off and I'm trying to fix it, but it plays well enough to enjoy and hear what went on. Speaking of Atlanta, I just had a couple of great weekends down there opening for Brett Butler at the Funny Farm Comedy Club and then headlining at Showcase Comedy Lounge...had a great time, the audiences and fans that came out were great...already booking return dates...keep an eye out for details!
