Ryan's debut release Fruits features twelve irresistible, vocally soulful and searching tracks which together combine to take you on an impressive, ethereal and atmospheric journey of altfolk and acoustic dub.
His smooth, solid and richly vast voice warmly cuts to your core throughout and leaves you enveloped in introspection.

Since he was knee-high to a grasshopper, Ryan Prebble has been playing music. Like many youths, he made his start on a tennis racquet eventually progressing to the guitar and now, 15yrs later, he has developed a uniquely percussive style of playing.
He has captivated small audiences around NZ with his powerful voice and stonking rhythms performing alongside other artists such as The Inkling and The Chandeliers. He also collaborates in other bands, Safari, Spartacus R, The Ascension Band, and was a member of the Fly My Pretties band.

REVIEW
“Fruits”
by Phil R., San Mateo, CA
Remember the name Ryan Prebble. If this extraordinarily deep, soulful and sublime debut album is a guide, you’ll be hearing lots more from this New Zealand singer-songwriter. Prebble certainly has the pedigree to achieve great things - he’s the brother of the accomplished producer Lee (Black Seeds, Phoenix Foundation, Fly My Pretties, Fat Freddy’s et al) and well-immersed in the Capitol mafia that has dominated New Zealand music for the past few years - and in “Fruits” this talent is undoubtedly played out.
Opening with the theremin-induced weirdness of “Escaping the Blue,” the album drifts like a paddle through the mysterious eddies of a Louisiana swamp; it is a soulful, mournful and atmospheric collection of bluegrass, blues and pop-folk enveloped in introspection. Prebble’s searching voice is impressive, as is his playing, and nestled in tight production.
What impresses me most about “Fruits” is its completeness. Each track commands attention, yet does not demand it; one is drawn to listen to the entire album. Subsequently, it’s hard to pick favorites from this bunch, but if pushed, the mid-album trilogy of the smoky blues “Sun in Your Eyes,” upbeat hillbilly ditty “Coming Along,” and the acoustic title track are strong contenders. Moody, brooding and magnificent, these “Fruits” deserve to be picked.
