A little about Ryan from his stepmom-Lori: Ryan loved the outdoors. He enjoyed shooting his bow and rifles. He loved to play golf and hockey and enjoyed four wheeling, horseback riding, canoeing and fishing. He was also a very big fan of the Detroit Red Wings, as well as a fan of the Detroit Tigers and Michigan Wolverines. I know he would be very proud and gloat around Broward County, Fl that the DETROIT RED WINGS ARE THE STANLEY CUP CHAMPS! and would wish them luck in upcoming '08-'09 season. I think of him with every Red Wings game that I watch and wish I could call him everytime they score and miss the phone calls from Ryan during and after the games. It was a bond we shared together. In the begining I was afraid to be the "other" parent and feared he wouldn't accept me, but quickly found that our love for Red Wing Hockey would bring us close and bond us together. Therefore, the Red Wings will always be special for me.Whether we were trading hockey cards, Red Wings memorabilia, or watching games, it was something "special" that we shared together. All of our conversations would circle around Red Wing Hockey or Police work.

Ryan was a fun loving person that loved to make people smile. Whether it was a child that needed someone to talk to or a fellow brother or sister in law enforcement that needed a hand, he was there. Because of his giving and caring nature, his Dad and I along with special and dear family and friends, will to continue Ryan's giving Nature and helping those that need it.
We've established the DEPUTY RYAN SEGUIN MEMORIAL FUND, a non-profit organization that will provide local law enforcement agencies in Ryan's hometown of Alpena, Mi, with equipement and training for the safety of the officers and citizens in the area. We're also contributing to a scholarship fund through the Alpena Community College to help young law enforcement students go to college. It's our way of continuing Ryan's giving nature and his passion for the well being of others.
