Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Coltrane, John Cage, John Scofield, Thelonius Monk, John Williams (classical guitarist, not Star Wars composer), Jack Grassel, Pink Floyd, Richard Wagner (yes, that Wagner), and too many others to mention
Sounds Like
A cross between John Scofield, Michael Hedges, Joe Pass, Kenny Werner, Andre Segovia, Bela Fleck, and some Kirk Hammett thrown in for flavor.
Ryan Sette studied under the tutelage of accomplished local musician Bob Balsley. Since moving to the area in 2001, he has played big band jazz with Bay city Swing, hard rock with Quarterlife Crisis, bass guitar with Off the Record, and banjo with the Packer Band outside Lambeau. He has even performed in a duo with John Salerno, one of the areas best jazz musicians. His style washes across almost every genre of music, and his biggest and earliest influences run the range from Metallica, Rancid and Stevie Ray Vaughan, to Miles Davis, John Scofield, and Dave Holland. Don't be too surprised to hear some country, blues, punk, metal, and free-jazz elements thrown into his playing; he likes to keep listeners on their toes.
