Ryo Utasato I'm a composer, singer and writer composing, lyric, play(Ethnic Flute,Erhu,Guitar,Vocal) programming(Drums, Percussion, Sound effects,Piano, Strings, Keyboards) and mixing are created by herself I began listening to the music of my father's classical guitar, my mother's folk singing and the samisen from the age of 3 My grandfather is half Japanese ainu. At the age of 14 I started singing in a rock band and by 18 I was singing professionally with a foreign artist and appearing on Japanese TV.At 28 my career expanded to include composing music for film and television, such as the theme for World Heritage, and others. My original soundtracks have been used in scifi, historical, drama, horror and action films & TV.As a singer, my style is best identified with world music, ethnic singing, ancient singing of Japan, healing new age, pop and rock I respect the history and culture of all races on this earth and I hope you can hear this being expressed in my music. -

Ryo's incredible musical sense combined with her genuine interest in world culture has opened her mind and pushed her to experiment with different types of sounds and instruments. Her music often features a mixture of seemingly contrasting sounds which collide at different points and produce unexpectedly moving results. On top of some of the more conventional instruments which Ryo has used in her music, she has also experimented with a number of others from different parts of the world such as the duduk (Armenia), the erhu (China) and the shamisen (Japan). The expanse and tremendous scale of her music is capable of taking us from one part of the globe to another, just by closing our eyes.
