Rype was formed as a side-project in 1995 by Brian Gottesman of Chucklehead, and became his focus once Chucklehead split up. The band played regularly in New England / New York and released one album, "Extra Virgin". Stylistically, Rype represents a transition between the funk of Chucklehead and the rock of his later solo material.
