SOMNAM was founded by Antti Vaheri late at 2005. First full-length demo When Breathing Ends was released early 2006 and second demo cd Weeping Streets & Crying Cities came out summer same year. Somnam started with darker ambient but second demo brought easier electronica elements aboard.
After two demo releases Somnam continued with third project that took influences from world music with usual ambient/electronica elements. Early 2007 Paradigms Recordings found Somnam through project's MySpace profile willing to release this third album titled as Melancholy's Masquerade. I am now recording for a new set of releases called the "Persona Series". These cassettes will be commissioned works (not by content, but by payment) for individuals. If John Smith in London, England wants his own Zebulon Kosted album, I will make a 45 minute album (one side of a 90 minute tape), 2 hand drawn mini posters, I will name the album after him (Zebulon Kosted - John Smith), and the fan will retain all rights to the recording (for use of any future release, sampling, or broadcasting rights). One copy of the album will remain in my personal collection, and one will be sent to the customer, so that the only copy that will be in circulation will be John Smiths copy! Each album is available for the ridiculously low price of $10 (not including shipping), and will be shipped in its completed form no later than 6 weeks from the date of purchase!!!

Hey guys! After a year and a half we are back charging full steam ahead with the release of our latest album "Songs For The Road Towards The End Of The World" this past May 31, 2009. Unlike our two previous releases this was a long duration album (LP) featuring 12 all created by Pete Drown. Mike Mellow participated in the album by co-producing it and creating the art. The first single is called "Ciento Once Grados" (111 Degrees) and we have a brief video/slideshow teaser for it on our page.
