PROTEST THE FIRST TEXECUTION IN 8 MONTHS: STOP THE EXECUTION OF DERRICK SONNIER!
Tuesday, June 3 at 5:30 PM Texas State Capitol, Street Steps at 11th and Congress.
Between September 2007 and May 2008 there were no execution in the United States, while the Supreme Court deliberated over the current method of lethal injection. In the end the court decided that the use of lethal injection is not cruel and unusual punishment. As abolitionist we say all executions are cruel and unusual. It's time to end the barbaric death penalty. Let's tell Texas there's…

As ExxonMobil shareholders gather for their annual meeting in Dallas, a coalition of environmental, faith and peace organizations will be holding environmental justice hearings, news conferences and a demonstration to increase shareholder and public awareness of the worldwide troubles wrought by this company. The Exxon Enough! coalition, comprised of the Dallas Peace Center, Consumers for Peace, CLEAN (Citizens League for Environmental Action Now) and many concerned individuals, are saying • Enough of your pollution that harms the health of people living near your refineries and plants on the Texas Gulf Coast; • Enough of your profiteering from the Iraq War, while people die, the wounded and displaced are neglected, and you engage our troops in your attempt to grab huge Iraqi oil reserves; • Enough of your excess, windfall war profits while we pay outrageous prices for gas prices and watch economies around the world crumbling; • Enough of the denial that burning petroleum products fuels global warming.
Wednesday, May 28 In front of the Meyerson Symphony Center, 2301 Flora St., Dallas 8:00 a.m. – The War Profiteering/Global Warming News Conference: A news conference will be held on Iraq war-profiteering, ExxonMobil’s dangerous goal in Iraq, excess profits and high gas prices; and on ExxonMobil’s lack of investment in clean renewable energy the morning of the ExxonMobil shareholders’ meeting. Meanwhile – The entire coalition, victims of refinery pollution and high cost of gas, as well as all in favor of ending war will gather with banners to loudly voice objections to the way ExxonMobil is doing business. We Demand a New Trial for Rodney Reed! March and Rally in Downtown Austin Saturday February 2, Starting at 12PM at South Congress and Monroe, Northeast Corner March to City Hall Plaza Rally at City Hall at 1PM (Lavaca and Cesar Chavez)
Featuring speeches from the family and supporters of Rodney Reed.
Texas death row prisoner Rodney Reed’s case is in a critical phase, with the possibility of a new trial greater than ever. His case sits before the Court of Criminal Appeals (over which Texas' killer judge Sharon Keller presides) and oral arguments on the case are scheduled for March 19.
We need your help now to draw Austin's attention to this case and send a clear message to the Court: New trial for Rodney Reed!
In recent weeks, there has been a lot of media around the case. Rodney's defense has long posited that another suspect in the initial investigation is responsible. That suspect, Georgetown police officer Jimmy Fennell was recently indicted for rape and other charges.
Here is a good article on recent developments: http://www.statesman.com/news/content/news/stories/local/01/07/0107fennell.html
Rodney's case is currently in the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, and one goal of the CEDP has been to win a new trial. Your participation in the march is needed to bring us one step closer to winning justice for Rodney Reed!
Thanks for adding us. Your support is much appreciated.
What do you think of these newly discovered crime scene photos (viewed at Abu-Jamal-News.com)?
I have been personally contacting every mainstream media person I could find and still the only place that has published the actual photo is the national Black newspaper, The SF Bay View:

The final push is on to save Kenneth Foster, Jr. from execution on Thursday.
The Save Kenneth Foster Campaign -- a coalition of activists and Foster's extended family -- has been working to stop the execution of a man who killed no one -- who was convicted, essentially, for driving a car, for being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
The campaign has held several high profile demonstrations and other events in Austin and San Antonio. Major Texas newspapers -- including the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram, the Dallas Morning News, the Waco Tribune, the San Antonio Express News, the Austin American-Statesman, among others -- have run editorials against the execution.
The campaign has done everything in its power to bring public attention to this egregious case and to give the Board of Pardons and Parole and Governor Perry every reason to do the right thing. Kenneth and his comrades on death row are in struggle with us, refusing to comply with their own executions.
On August 29th, another death row prisoner, Joseph Amadour is scheduled to be executed. Since, the 22nd of August, Kenneth and Joseph have been fasting in protest of their scheduled executions. Come join us in this 11th hour for Kenneth Foster and all death row prisoners!
In Austin ---
